Honda has launched the CB500X at a price of Rs. 6,87,386 (ex-showroom, Gurgaon). The bike will be imported as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit and assembled locally. It will be sold through Honda's premium BigWing dealer network.
The CB500X is an adventure touring bike featuring a modern and sporty look. The bike has dual-tone bodywork with an LED headlamp, a tall windscreen, stepped seat and a single side-mounted exhaust. It comes equipped with a digital instrument cluster and rides on multi-spoke alloy wheels that are shod with all-terrain tyres.
Powering the CB500X is a 471cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that puts out 46 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 43.2 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch.
The CB500X is equipped with 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 320 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear. It has dual-channel ABS.
In India, the CB500X competes with the Kawasaki Versys 650, Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT and Benelli TRK 502.
I think the Versys is 6.69 ex-showroom, so rather daft pricing there, considering its a CKD and all...
So much wait for this bike and they are killing it with the price :Frustrati. Pricing is too much for this bike.
Versys is a much more attractive offering now with Honda's pricing. CB500X is definitely a nice bike for long-distance touring with Honda's reliability and (comparatively) cheaper spares. However, I think this will have hardly any takers and be DOA. Blame the pricing.
Honda seems to have lost the plot in India for most of it's recent launches. Such a good bike at such a atrocious pricing. Even the KTM 390 Adventure beats it hands down at half the price not to talk of the 20 hp more Versys 650 at the same price.

Looks like Honda is helping Kawasaki and KTM sell their bikes better. Sad.
Cheers...
Disappointed. Had been waiting for this bike for more than 1.5 years, and this pricing means it's out of my budget now. It will be around 8l on road which is Versys 650 territory, with the only major advantage being 19in front wheel and Honda reliability.
KTM 390 adventure looks total VFM compared to this. Honda when will you wake up?
Such a disappointing pricing. Was really keen on this one but looks like I will have to wait for KTM 490 which may launch next year. The KTM 490 will be a twin-cylinder and will offer a lot more in terms of power, torque, tech and affordability.
Even the Benelli TRK 502 seems like a value proposition now compared to the Honda CB 500X. The only thing against the Benelli is the heavy weight and the service/parts cost.
Wow, that is really aspirational pricing. For a 500 cc Adv bike, that is a CKD import, one would have assumed Honda would want to capture a larger market share with a more aggressive (read reasonable) pricing. Instead, I have to agree with the other posts on the forum - Honda is either highlighting the value in the KTM 390 Adv or emphasising the extra grunt that the Versys 650 offers at the same price. :Frustrati
Way to go, Honda. Glad I did not eventually wait for this bike to be announced.
Honda got greedy for sure. What they have done is to allow KTM to come up with 490 ADV and still undercut this by lakhs. Not sure if it was just me who was hoping for sub 5L pricing on this.
Ridiculous pricing by Honda, why would anyone buy this over Versys 650. Looks like Honda hasn't realised it's mistake with high priced cars and now they are continuing with bikes. They rule the two wheeler market and are thinking people will blindly buy their products.
We can be happy that it's here.
I am going to assume that Honda have something hidden behind it because the pricing ensures very limited sales.
Ex-showroom of 5.5 lakhs would still have been expensive but understandable, at 6.87 lakhs, IMHO this will ensure that the sales are limited. Similar to the V-Strom.
This is going to impact the sales of the 390 Adv, by increasing it :D
I know at least 2 people who were waiting for it over the KTM but Honda ended their dilemma :)
Honda has the NC750X in the US priced at $8,199 as against $8,399 of the Versys 650 ABS. CB500X is priced much cheaper at $6,999.
There is no logic in Honda pricing the CB500X against the Versys here!
Dead on arrival. Expect price cut in less than 3 months.
The only bright side i see is after sales, service being at par with the adv 390. Hondas are cheap to maintain as such.
At that price pre owned tigers, V storms will get more attention than this.
Honda has always been a bummer when it comes to pricing their vehicles right (applies to their 4-wheelers too)
I have been riding a Kawasaki Ninja650R for last 10 yrs. Going by my personal experience, have found the Suzuki VStrom650 to be a far better motorcycle, than what a Ninja650R or even the Versys650 is.
Honda’s pricing for a 500cc mill is downright ridiculous.
Single digit sale figures until Honda reduces price to 5-5.25 L ex showroom. Costs almost twice as much as a 390 ADV. However, certainly not twice the bike!
It's jokingly called the Half-rica twin. Seems Honda took that bit seriously with the pricing. Overpriced for sure. I think they might allocate low units which will find some takers.
