Hero Electric has launched a new electric scooter called the City Speed Nyx-HX. It is targeted at B2B customers for last mile deliveries and other commercial uses. Prices start at Rs. 64,640 after the FAME 2 subsidy.

The City Speed can be configured with for over 10 different applications. The passenger seat can be folded up as a backrest for the rider and can be fitted with a variety of loads carrying solutions. Customers can also configure their vehicles with 4 different levels of connected tech - from Bluetooth to remote surveillance and diagnostic solutions.

The electric scooter is said to be equipped with a high-torque powertrain that uses minimum energy to provide a high output without stressing the battery. It comes with a modular battery than can be easily integrated with battery swapping systems.

City Speed Nyx-HX is claimed to offer a range of 210 km on a single charge. It gets combi brakes and regenerative braking.

Who has rated the 210 km range? If its ARAI, you can safely slash 30 - 50% off it. ARAI said the Hyundai Kona can do 450 km, but it's actually more like 250 - 300 km.

If it has a (ARAI) range of 1.5x of Ather 450x at a price of about 45% the price, there has to be a *BUT* that is not mentioned in the Article.

That *BUT* is probably the top speed, which should be 25kmph.

Why do E Scooter manufacturers try to Hack the regulations and keep trying to fit in scooters in the specifications of bicycles? I was recently going through the Hero Lectro (e-bicycle) website and that one makes so much more sense to any city dweller than these compromised scooters. No wonder e-scooters never worked out in all these years!

I understand this particular model is meant for commercial purposes like hyperlocal/food delivery. But that is a much more limited market as compared to the mass market. And even there, delivery speed and the no. of deliveries a person can make can have a big impact in the amount of money they make. This is going to be a non starter even for that crowd.

E Scooters will remain dead till the day mass market keeps ignoring Activa and keeps targeting Hero Cycles. I hope these companies realize this before it is too late.

The Kona can easily do 300 to 350 on highways. A Kona has done Bengaluru - Coimbature without a charge and this wasn't hypermiling, I know an owner who does Bengaluru-Mangaluru easily and regularly.

2000 called and wants their electric scooter back. Hero electric makes substandard products from kits they import from China. No one who is considering a electric scooter for serious use should look at Hero Electric.
