re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

Thunderbird too was marketed as highway cruiser. If the weight is 180-ish, then it would be a good 15kgs lighter than Thunderbird.

Thunderbird was mostly bought by people who wanted something unique from the sea of Classic 350s. (Atleast thats's how my friend bought in 2019).

So a 2.0 version of it, Meteor could be priced approximately the same as Thunderbird.

Yep. And yep. And this is coming from a guy who is thoroughly unimpressed by their bikes. Full marks to Mr. Lal for his passion and involvement.

Beautiful motorcycle. The quality seems to be a far cry from my 2000 AVL 350 which spent more time at the workshop than at home. Loved the little details, especially the meter cluster. Not so sure about the tail lamp and muffler though. The graphics looks a bit similar to the CB350 DLX PRO, though much better executed. Would be great to see how the Honda versus RE battle pans out. More power to the riders!

Re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 to be launched on November 6

The bike looks good, I think I would actually choose this over the Hness CB350 for a few reasons:
  • Pillion looks more usable
  • The bike looks better

Also, I hope - for obvious selfish reasons - that RE do play the price card and bring it in 20K lower than the Hness.

These look the next level, certainly. I have been on the fence for a year since selling my 350 Standard, old model. Thank God for that. Pricing will be the key, I think they should hit the sweet spot if they start the range around a lakh fifty.

+1 to that. I am most likely picking up either an old-school standard (right side shifter version) next year, or a restored RX.
  • Passing on the CB350 and Jawa because of the tiny pillion seats.
  • Passing on the Imperiale because of the tiny service network.
  • Probably will pass on later UCE models (a little undecided on this though) as they don't come across as "something special". At least the CI engine carries nostalgia and memories.

But as you say if this Meteor comes in around 1.5L ex-showroom, I'll be sorely tempted to stretch my budget to get this instead. Hope they price it on the lower side.

There is no way this can start at 1.5L, especially when other RE models are selling at much higher price. Honestly Meteor 350 is evolution of Thunderbird 350. Those Alloys itself go for 10K. With added tech, new engine, clutch, chassis how can they price it so low ?

Let us be realistic with 1.7/8L starting price(for fireball) and 10-15K premium for top variant sounds reasonable to me. Anything extra is a bonus.

Let us instead hope RE offers a niggle free first hand experience(similar to INT650, not Himalayan). If the Quality is good, RE should not play the discount game.

Honda Hness is a roadster and Meteor 350 is a Cruiser.

re: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Fireball leaked, now launched at 1.75 lakhs

Apparently, media rides are happening this week and some journos have the Meteor with them. RE being RE, will have bikes reaching showrooms by the time it is launched!

Meteor is a Thunderbird replacement. RE has always experimented with the TB range be it moving the gear lever to the left on the TBTS. Hope this new engine is better than the UCE350 (now Fi) as it has big shoes to fill.

I guess the only time we see no vibration in RE 350 is when engine is not running.

So really a great work by engineers there
RE surely knows how to do marketing as compared to Honda.

Looks like a baby Harley wannabe now than something remotely RE (and they've still not lost the gap of skylight between the tank and frame and engine).

But sounds as rough and grating as most new-age REs do ... so that's on point.

Typical hollow ringing metallic sound that screams compromised metallurgy and heat-cycled lubing ... and seizure.

Cheers, Doc
