Speaking just of brand equity and credibility, KTM has won more international races in the segments these bikes play in lay consumer wise, than all other big names put together, not just BMW, but all the Jap Big 4 as well.

So I do not get (remotely) the brand of a BMW over a KTM, any KTM.

Coming to the India specific bikes, the BMW is made in Chennai just as the KTM is made in Pune. They are both Indian made machines with foreign branding.

So if a rider like me is going out to buy a bike, he would definitely have his brand biases, but I'm not really ceetain that he's ever going to buy a lesser machine for the same money because of that.

Of course there will be thousands who do not have a clue as to what KTM is, and BMW simply conjures up images of big expensive status sedans. And hence the aspirattonal urge to buy into that on a smaller more manageable scale, minus two wheels.

There is space in the market for all kinds of buyers.

As for premium service, there are some good parts like they give you the remaining chain lube after charging for the can of lube.

To stay in warranty you've to stick with company service and that shouldn't be an issue with one major service yearly! In addition most buyers will be city dwellers itching to explore the unexplored.

Brilliant pricing by BMW! They have undercut the KTM twins by a decent margin (20k on ex showroom), and the lesser seat height of the GS at 835mm is better for us who are vertically challenged. The Rallye edition paint scheme looks smashing BTW!
As per initial reviews on Youtube, the BS6 engine is more refined. Hopefully, the suspension is sorted now. Waiting for TBhp reviews

This pricing is awesome. It brings the competition to Honda(when they launch bs6 version of CB300R), TVS Apache 310 and even RE to a certain extent.

Good update by BMW.

The new bikes now get slipper clutch, LED lighting, adjustable levers and ride by wire which were all missing from the BS4 bikes.

People selling BS4 bikes now will be badly affected by this launch. No point going for BS4 unless you get some really hefty discounts over the new bike.

This is excellent pricing! Undercuts the Duke 390, although many will argue that the KTM is a far better product. I guess it gives alternatives to riders who want a more relaxed power delivery than the Duke, and for the snob value of a Bimmer.

I was in the market for a bike and had zeroed in on the Apache RR310, now with the launch of the BMWs at such an attractive price, it's put me in a quandary. The BMWs don't have the digital display, the fantastic tyres or the ride modes that the RR310 has, and also the great looks that the TVS has.

Is it just me that thinks the G310R colours are far too boring. The GS looks fantastic, though.

The Low 785 mm Seat Height of the G 310R is the Highlight for Short Guys like myself. With revised pricing it certainly feels like an attractive proposition.

Now this is called aggressive pricing/price correction. But bit harsh on people who had purchased the BS4 models earlier this year. I had even heard that in March'20 - there were discounts in tune of 80k-90k at OTR. The GS have the potential to hit the numbers of KTM 390 ADV, but only issue is - low number of dealers and high maintenance costs as compared to KTM.

Last week CB350 by Honda and this week BMW with price correction - Good days for bike enthusiasts.

BMW looking like fools with the "I regret everything" price cut after launching at impractical prices. And now they've come to admit they're not hot enough for that price.

Great update. I especially love the awful '80's\'90's nostalgia colour scheme on the rallye edition. I'd probably buy it for how uniquely stomach turning the colour combination is. Silver, dark purple and red? Ugh. A collector's item for sure.

Too bad it missed getting the nice colour meter display the new RR310 gets. That would have actually completed the package in my eyes.

Good. There have to be common parts between these and the bigger ones. For example, the mirrors and LED indicators, possibly levers too.

Even if the parts are not common, they are definitely getting cheaper to replace, my 1200 had a rear LED indicator that got snapped off by someone, and I got it for 2.5K from the service center instead of 4.5K+ it used to be last year or so

TVS has a long checkered racing history of racing full fledged KTMs with the badging removed from what I've heard from a number of old PARA veterans in Poona.

I seriously doubt their ability to make or develop anything on their own.

Bajaj tried it with their KTMs.
