I bought if from Bandidospitstop and is currently in stock. They are pretty responsive. Need to replace the default nut and fits well.

Re: 2020 BMW G310R and 310GS facelift

Anyone who's bought the 2020 GS has anything to say about the new versions? Have they ironed out the electrical gremlins? Is it a safe buy now? I may buy it if they're fairly reliable..I am ok if there are small niggles here and there which I am happy to sort out myself. Any pointers from current owners will be of great help..thanks in advance.

Interesting observation, the GTT speeds on my RR310 are a bit higher. No idea why.

Please read these comments from Nasirkaka, who is owner of BS4 version on the alternator issue and general upkeep of bike. (Link 1 (2020 BMW G310R and 310GS facelift), Link 2 (2020 BMW G310R and 310GS facelift))

Also my impressions are posted in last page. In general, the quality of the cycle parts are great and should do fine in long run.

Another holiday and I rode out for 40 - 50 kms around the city. Best part about it -> my son joined me on this ride. So another member added to biking fraternity

My son giving a thumbs up to ride.
Apparently, he was more happy to venture out to a lake and throw some stones there. Hoping that the biking bug bites him soon.

Re: 2020 BMW G310R and 310GS facelift

Completed the first service at 1400km yesterday and the charge was 5542. Material bill was 2403 including Oil, Oil filter, O ring, Gasket ring. Service charges were 3139 for running in check, cleaning, test with diagnostics system, programming control units.

The online manual says before 1200km, but they didn't create any issue. Finally I can use the bike without constraints. Will share my views after some weekend ride.

My appointment was on 13th, but they couldn't take the vehicle in for service due to roadwork. I left it with them to avoid going twice. They hadn't fit the HSRP plate as it arrived yesterday and it was late. Have to visit them again.

I was informed that they usually need about 1.5 days for service. I had to wait about an hour around 7 PM and there were 2-3 bikes delivered after service. They are clearly running out of capacity in their showroom for service being the only center for state. Hope they setup a new service facility like Triumph.

I had the upper crash gaurd fabricated using some alloy. Not the prettiest looking but is sturdy and gets the job done.

Waiting for the last bit of accessories to arrive from bikenbiker, Zana top rack for installing the top case. I ordered on 5 Nov and they are yet to deliver. I followed up thrice but they keep pushing dates. Please confirm availability with them before you order. Still better, get it in person if in Bangalore as they keep showing the part as available on their website even if out of stock.

Here is my bike post service, rarely this neat and tidy!

Saw a 310R today with Grey and Red combo paint scheme. It looked too tacky to me and overtly done. However, the headlight is integrated smartly.

Re: 2020 BMW G310R and 310GS facelift

Got the number plate fixed but there are vibrations at some speeds. It would be better if you carry some rubber washers which can be used before revitting. Have to look for double sided tape or fevikwik as workarounds.

Drove about 100km in city. Not much change in the driving characteristics. Tank vibrations though mild still persist, should avoid gripping the tank. Have to search for neutral sometimes. Maybe I am yet to get used to the bike again as I had been driving other bikes last 2 weeks.

Consistent positive feedback from friends is about the design, ride quality, brakes and lights. Since all lights are LED, trust the electrical issues in prior bikes are sorted out. My interceptor had drained out of battery on stock setup, but never faced issues for over 18 months after switching to all LED, even with intermittent usage over weeks.

Price bump of Rs 5000 for BMW G 310 twins. R to now cost Rs 2.50 lakh & GS to cost Rs 2.90 lakh.

Re: 2020 BMW G310R and 310GS facelift

Couple of updates:

1. Chain noise - I lubed the chain with the usual gear oil and things are totally smooth now. No unnecessary noises. Quite content.
2. 1st Service - Got the first service done at 1100 Kms. Total cost was approx 6k. Dropped the bike in morning and picked it up in late evening. Bike feels more smooth now. Cruising at 105 - 115 is a breeze and that's more than enough for my needs.
3. Accessories - Have bought crash guards, bash plate, radiator guard and hand guards. Shall get them fitted soon and then share if there is any change in riding dynamics with the added weight.

For now, I am having a blast off the road. Exploring trails and venturing out is something which I am really enjoying.
Recently got along on a ride with someone on interceptor. We reached the destination and the guy was quite content and happy clicking the pics and all. But then I just split, said my goodbye and went along exploring the near by trails and did some rock riding

Re: 2020 BMW G310R and 310GS facelift

Suggestion required: Has anyone ridden/owned Himalayan extensively and now own/ride 310 GS? I need real world perspective as i own first gen carb version Himalayan and barring few quality issues, i love Himalayan for what it offers. And it has been a pleasurable experience as i rode it in all possible terrains (except sand) and its low RPM torque along with awesome suspension is addictive.
As usual i am bored of it and want to try something different within 500CC (i dont want to handle too much of power as i do not ride fast). Rejected KTM 390 adventure because it always needs to be ridden in high RPMS and i come from bullet fraternity and not very used to of revving bikes. Is this the case with 310 GS as well? How is the suspension in comparison with Himalayan?

Thank you!

I Dont think you will gain much over Himalayan, if you go ahead with 310GS, except may be small tit-bits and BMW bragging rights. Only advantage worth mentioning would be the weight difference. And spokes Vs alloys depending which school of thought you are coming from. Else there is no major real-life difference in terms of power, or ergonomics, both are close to each other. 310GS would have slight edge when it comes to engine refinement, good illumination, slipper clutch, looks, and the soft set suspension (some like, some dont). Himalayan has a price advantage, better spares availability, better service network, economical after sales maintenance, etc. You can look at 310 gs but would get bored if it sooner.
Else could wait a bit for something better in coming days, a CB500X may be.. and use the time to save some more.
PS i do not have much personal riding experience with himalayan, this is more of a gut feel.

No, that's not the case with 310 GS.
The meat of the powerband is between 3.5k to 7k RPM (rev limited kicks in at 10.5k rpm). So you won't have to wring the throttle to stay in the powerband.

Totally agree with Nasir here. 310GS won't be a substantial upgrade (or any upgrade for that matter) from Himalayan.
Better to wait for CB500x, ADV 490 or even test ride the Benelli 502x. With lower price it sure offers lot of bike for that money.

Will avoid Benelli, I only take my Himalayan out for offbeat riding and most of the time far away from civilization and to remote places with no more than 2-3 riders. Need something which i can rely on.
Although I have been stranded on road for 2-3 times because of quality issue of Himalayan but bare basic RE engineering and confidence of having a RE showroom in next 200-300 kms was enough motivation.
Can not be so fearless with Benelli for sure. Also, need bike with minimum plastic to break as I really thrash my bike on unforgettable jungle tracks and never to worry of breaking cosmetic as there is practically nothing in Himalayan except few small tit bits which are easily available and not pricy to change.
