The BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400 has been launched at Rs. 1.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).



The Dominar 400 is now available with a 373.3cc, single-cylinder engine that has been updated to meet the new emission regulations. It produces 39.4 BHP and 35 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch.

The Dominar 400 comes with 43 mm upside down fork suspension at the front and has a monoshock at the rear. The braking setup includes 320 mm and 230 mm disc brakes at the front and rear respectively. It is fitted with a dual-channel ABS.

The Dominar 400 is equipped with an LED headlight, digital instrument cluster, diamond-cut alloy wheels and a twin-barrel exhaust.

Still the best value for money motorcycle you can get on the south side of 3 lakhs. I bought mine in 2018 and it is running smooth like butter. Clocked 29K kms till now. No major hiccups, touch wood! You can be on 100 kmph all day long and the 6th clog lets you move from 60 kmph to high triple digits without any hesitation. It is a little on the heavier side, but then the weight distribution is almost centralized. You hardly feel the weight while riding. Manageable in traffic as well, as it never lets your legs become any tandoori delicacy.

With so much action happening in the 300+cc space ( Honda CB350 , RE Meteor ) and the upcoming new/refreshed models from the other players , I am unable to find any information on updates to Dominar 400.

I am bit surprised to not find any new discussions on the bike .The VFM that Dominar 400 offers compared to some of the recently released models on the same price point simply cannot be overlooked.

Anyone aware of what is in store for Dominar for 2021 ?

Bajaj simply doesn't care enough about Dominar to worry about updates.
I read an article (I think it was autoX) which mentioned that for 2021 the focus is on launching the RS 400 and refreshing the entire Pulsar lineup.

The next Dominar will most likely be a 490 based on the KTM 490 engine that will debut in 2022.

Shouldn’t they be ? The very product Dominar 400 took head-on when it came out will soon be available in a better avatar ! I was honestly expecting something positive .

I think anything by 2022 would be a very late response to the competition unless they want to completely rebrand Dominar .

I was immensely interested in the Dominar 400, till I proceeded to buy the KTM 390 Adv. The Dominar 400, while a good bike overall has no novelty and nothing really special in its offering. It has a great engine but weird weight distribution. It was very talked about between April - July, till its interested just plummeted. That is mainly due to the fact that, like I mentioned, Dominar doesn't have anything special to offer, and is priced weirdly too: 30-40% more expensive that REs and 10-20% cheaper than KTMs of the same class.

It is indeed very sad to see that the Dominar 400 is just fading away and is apparently not very high on the priority list for Bajaj Auto. Especially considering the frenetic activty, currently on, in the 300 - 400 cc motorcycle space, it is all the more imperative that the Dominar gets, at the very least, a facelift with new gizmos like Bluetooth connectivity, a TFT screen, GPS, switchable ABS etc... The Dominar 400 is slowly losing its Leader in class tag. The fact that it is indeed a great Bike, makes this lack of concern by the manufacturers, more disheartening and unpalatable.

That is exactly something I was looking for when I bumped up the thread. It appears , the general vibe is that the Dominar 400 is not the priority for Bajaj at the moment or 2021 .

Probably Bajaj wants to ressurect the brand Dominar with a different persona at a later point.

For 2022, Bajaj will equip the Dominar 400 with a flyscreen, new engine cowl, pillion backrest and a luggage carrier.

Most probably this will be launched as an factory fitted accessory pack.
The add-ons are:
1. Taller Windscreen
2. Phone Mount above instrument cluster
3. Charging port
4. Small Backrest
5. Luggage Mount Rack
6. Dual Finish Hand Guards
7. Dual Tone Metal Engine Guard
8. Integrated Engine and Radiator Crash Guard

Good add-ons and look much better than after market ones. Also, if Bajaj makes it available the existing owners can also fit them.
