The throttle cable is a consumable.

A consumable should be periodically changed, ideally once a year at max once in 2 years.

Im not sure if your infrequent use could be contributing to the degradation of the accelerator cable. I typically change the accelerator cables once in 10,000 kms or 2 - 3 years, just to be on the safe side and avoid any bike pushing.

This could be an issue unique to TVS Scooters. I own a 2012 Honda Unicorn and I haven't had to change cables even once in the past 9 years! Granted I've done only 25k kilometers but when you consider how old the bike is(and that it was parked idle for an year during the lockdown) it really does appear to an issue with TVS scooter cables.

Either that or Honda makes their cables out of some otherwordly material!
