Besides the reworked and ‘cleaner’ power plant, the 2020 Apache RTR 160 will sport new body graphics and a fuel-injection system; dubbed as Race Tuned-FI or ‘RT-Fi’ technology in TVS’s records. Ex-showroom prices for motorcycle stand at Rs 93,500 for the entry-level front-disc variant and Rs 96,500 for the twin-disc variant. Just like the 4V models of the 2020 Apache sports commuter range, the RTR 160 2V boasts of a segment-first Glide Through Technology (GTT) which aims to provide a fatigue-free riding experience in urban environments. Essentially, the system prevents the motorcycle from stalling in tight traffic conditions by adjusting the throttle response using inputs to the fuel-injection system. The BS6-compliant 159.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine makes around 15.3bhp and 13.9Nm of torque. On the other hand, the outgoing BS4 model generates 14.9bhp and 13.03Nm. Hence, there is a significant rise in output unlike the usual case of updating to a higher emission standard, thanks to the addition of the FI system. The engine continues to be mated to a 5-speed transmission. TVS Motor Company promises that the updated RTR 160 line showcases the same racing pedigree as its other products. The company has a long history in the field of Indian motorsports as well as abroad, including the iconic Dakar rally. The 2020 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V comes with six choices of colour: Pearl White, Matte Blue, Matte Red, Gloss Black, Gloss Red and T Grey. Interestingly enough, the names of the colours are pretty straightforward (except ‘T Grey’) considering the fact that TVS chooses to give a rather complicated nomenclature for almost all its regular mechanical and electronic components. |
