New Delhi: Hero Electric has launched its electric scooter Flash in India, at a starting price of Rs 29,990 (ex-showroom, Pan India). The scooter is priced at Rs 32,710 in North East India and it is available in 615 touchpoints across the company.

The scooter comes with a limited time discount offer of Rs 7,090, claims the EV maker. Also, the company is offering Paytm benefits of up to Rs 10,500 on the Flash lead-acid and entire lithium-ion range.

The electric scooter gets LED headlights, mobile charging facility and regenerative braking system. IT weighs 69 kg, which makes the scooter easy to maneuver, claims Hero Electric.

The scooter is powered by a 48V battery that enables it to run around 50 km on a single charge. The scooter's battery requires 8 hours to be fully charged.

Meanwhile, the company is aiming to showcase new generation electric vehicles at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020. Speaking to the ETAuto, Naveen Munjal, MD of Hero Electric a few days ago said, "Continuing our electric mobility narrative we will showcase the next-gen products at the Auto Expo."

Re: Hero Electric launches Flash e-scooter, price starts from Rs 29,990

I don't want to be found dead near this ugly looking scooter. Hero claims it travels 50kms on a single charge that means it'll do 35-40kms in real world conditions. As much as the price is 'attractive' this doesn't make sense at all and seems like a dire attempt to showcase the world "look at us we care about the environment so we build this electric scooter!". Does the R&D department of Hero do anything? This seems like a rebadged Chinese scooter.

Commuter segment aside Hero has been absolutely disappointing. People were waiting for the HX250r and the Hastur, till Hero decided they weren't going to go into production. Boo you Hero!

Hero Electric and Hero MotoCorp are two different entities belonging to the same family but different persons.

Why do companies design electric scooter to look so ugly?.
And what's with everyone (except Aether) using these gaudy alloy wheels?

Re: Hero Electric launches Flash e-scooter, price starts from Rs 29,990

Low speed EV scooters and other Chinese imports with little or no premium features and bad after sales service and user experience are hurting the EV market. I would recommend that people stay away from these low speed scooters. Lack of a driving license doesn't make it attractive. Electric bicycles that are geared are a better deal than these.

Also, Hero Electric and some others still sell Lead Acid models even after the government took away subsidies from those dated battery technologies. The lead acid batteries don't last for more than a couple of years.

With TVS entering the fray with a competing EV product to Bajaj Chetak and Ather waking up to competition and launching a new product and expanding quickly, the market is maturing. Revolt has a significant booking backlog as well. Unless something drastic changes, we can expect many small players to shut down.
