Do note enduro versions of the 390 adventure is incoming. I would expect a showcase at the next EICMA and then a global launch.

I doubt their availability in india considering that the seat height will be 880mm+ easy.

Also 490 twins by next EICMA is being too... adventurous, for lack of a better word. I would think 2021 eicma and an early 2022 launch if not thinking conservatively. Anyhow, its a nice upgrade from the 390.

re: KTM's future lineup revealed - Five KTM 490 models & more

The adventure space is sure hotting up in India ! There's news of KTMs - 250/ 390 Adventure & now the news of 490. Hero has brought in the X-Pulse, & they've not explicitly ruled our a higher displacement version in the future. RE has already the Himalayan in this space, & with the new parallel twin motor, there remains a distinct possibility of a 650cc Himalayan. For all we know Bajaj's tie-up with Triumph may yet spawn a small displacement Tiger.

Adventure Bikes, though a miniscule fraction of the total, are already more visible today - BMWs, Versys, Vee-Stroms & Tigers galore. And the bike manufacturers would be watching this segment with keen interest.

Good times ahead for the Adventure Bike afficionado

Cheers !

The adventure bike craze is like the SUV craze in the 4 wheel segment. Any size and engine capacity, people want a elevated stance, better ground clearance and go anywhere package.

More news

Quote:

Talking about small- to midsize-capacity product, has development of the new range of 500cc twin-cylinder models that will be built by Bajaj been slowed down at all by Covid-19? When do you expect to launch these?
It’s the opposite! Due to the Covid experiences, we sped up the project, because the 500 class will become an all-important segment, especially in developed markets as an A2-licence bike. And in the so-called emerging markets it’ll be the premium segment, so it’s very important for our 125/200 and 390 Duke customers to trade up to. This is being 100% developed at the Bajaj R&D center in Pune, but supported by our R&D guys. It’s a parallel-twin similar to the format we have on the 790/890, only 500cc.

When do you expect to launch these?
Still in two years’ time to get the first product, so 2022. But we will see several different models, with Duke and the Adventure versions in each of the KTM and Husqvarna lines.

KTM is all set to reveal the 890 Adventure on October 19, 2020. Sits below the KTM 890 Adventure R and Adventure R Rally. Expected to be powered by the same 889cc twin-cylinder engine as the R/Rally.

A Poona made 500 cc twin sounds good to my ears.

I still cannot get the one ride on the Duke 690 out of my system though.

The biggest thumper ever in production. It's a crying shame we never got it.

The 390 on steroids.

And magic mushrooms.

Cheers, Doc

KTM 890 Adventure revealed, Powered by a 889cc Euro 5-compliant engine that makes 105 HP and 100 Nm. KTM says that the 20 percent extra rotating mass of the crankshaft brings an improved feeling at low revs.

Quote:
There is full-LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT digital screen, smartphone connectivity, tall windscreen, 20-litre fuel tank, height adjustable seat, anodised wheel hubs, 21-inch front spoke wheel and 18-inch one at the rear and adventure-spec tyres with TPMS.

WP suspension is present on the bike and while the USD Apex front forks has been carried over, the rear shock is new and can be adjusted for both spring preload and rebound damping. Also, there is lots of suspension travel, about 200 mm of it.

Braking duty is done by twin 320 mm discs upfront with 4-piston calipers, 260 mm rear disc with 2-piston caliper.

Safety and riding aids include cornering ABS, off-road ABS, Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) and Motor Slip Regulation, off-road driving mode and the optional rally mode.

Other optional extras include KTM MY RIDE app for turn-by-turn navigation, cruise control, Quickshifter+, heated seat and grips together with a wide compliment of luggage.

By December this year, the KTM 890 Adventure will start arriving at authorised KTM dealers worldwide.

Wow!! Cruise control - that's interesting. What could be an expected pricing for this??

Not in india. If it does, expect it to be closer to the tiger pricing.

Pricing it in the range of the Tiger would make it dead on arrival IMO. I was expecting it to be priced a little higher than the Versys.

Not a chance with the full electronic suite and power figures. Versys and vstrom will be blown to dust by the 790/890adv in that segment by pure performance.

Look at the pricing abroad, you will get your answer. Btw these bikes will be CKD just like every other bike over the 5l category.

Sounds like a worthy upgrade. Will stay tuned.

Worthy upgrade only after the initial gremlins are sorted post first release. Considering this is product line, I am pretty sure the initial lots will suffer some or other niggles.

I don't think so. It's a KTM. And I've owned the first 200 in India and currently ride a first lot 390.

Both brilliant machines. Manic fast, sturdy, built well, quality parts, and reliable regardless of how they are pushed.

And cheap as chips to own and run.

Maybe your experience is different. I'm sharing mine.

In fact I'd go a step further and say that you should always buy the first lot of a new KTM.

Before our super knowledgeable junta and Bajaj team up to neuter the bikes with their "gremlins" and "fixes" ...

Cheers, Doc
