Looks so mediocre, almost borderline ugly. That Commercial is cherry on the top, absolutely uninspiring. Very unlike Royal Enfield, Marketing has been there forte till now, and this is disappointing.

Looks like a Luna and a cycle had a marriage! I can never imagine myself even test riding this, let alone buying it.

Absolutely true. I mean, I can sort of understand the reason why the Flying Flea looks the way it does, the original looked like this -

So one step in the past while designing the future.

But then, unlike their usual marketing strategy which solely thrives on that very past, this one suddenly went all futuristic (though I suspect the clouds and the parachute symbol were all supposed to connect to these World War bikes getting dropped from the planes!) and totally failed to connect with me.

Ya they are lost, trying to mix something which ideally makes no connection. If futuristic is what you want, go all out, this is going no where.

I think this might be the first Royal Enfield in sometime which will end up being a sales dud, market is anyway apprehensive about Electric Bikes, on top of it you serve them this monstrosity, good luck to them selling this.

I will any day buy a decent looking electric scooter over this.

From the looks of it, seems like a product for the western lifestyle markets. Similar to that recently launched, over priced, BMW e-scooter that makes no sense here.

Attaching some more images, sourced from Autocar India's Instagram page.

Royal Enfield has setup a subsidiary called Flying Flea which will be a separate vertical within RE. The first model from this subsidiary will be the recently unveiled C6.

An all electric scrambler called the S6 is also under development featuring long travel suspension, spoke wheels and flat seats.

Haven't come across any range figures yet. Must be around 100-150kms. Skinny tyres, approachable seat height means this is clearly positioned as a short range city commuter. Might be a good competitor to the Livewire S2 and Maeving RM1.

I love the looks! Way beyond cool. Purely a lifestyle vehicle, will be quite impractical - but hey, if it is the looks, then who cares?

Re: Royal Enfield electric bike | Flying Flea unveiled at EICMA 2024

I don't understand the thought process of RE think tank. I mean why are they not launching the products which we have been waiting for from a long time and which they also know are going to sell. First they made us wait more than 5 years for alloys on the 650 twins. Now even though they know that most us are waiting for a Himalayan 650 and updated 650 twins, they are busy launching models which are, frankly, just niche items and are not setting the sales charts on fire. First the shotgun, then the bear and now this...🙄

Personally, I think it looks bloody brilliant!

Takes serious guts for a heritage motorcycle brand like RE to make an EV motorcycle, and then to make it look like this! Bonkers.

Looks like they are taking an approach where they differentiate based on styling/ design rather than on technology or performance. May actually work for them considering that they would be competing with thw Chinese who would have an edge in terms of tech.

The girder fork takes this design to the next level. Just brilliant. Please keep in mind that it’s a separate brand for the exact reason that they don’t necessarily expect a lot of RE buyers to like it.

EDIT: the TFT shows a maximum range of 100 km.

Re: Royal Enfield electric bike | Flying Flea unveiled at EICMA 2024

Royal Enfield is innovating the way no one expected of them in 2010, I can tell you. The concept appears purposeful, well thought of, and attractive.

However, I'm not too convinced of the name "Flying Flea". Royal Enfield has always emphasised the name. Not only is there "Royal" in the brand, but each bike's name from Bullet to Continental GT to Thunderbird to Interceptor has evoked nothing but pride, legacy and respect, this 'flea' comes as a setback.

Is Royal Enfield purposefully trolling the EV scene? In favour of the 'thump'? I doubt it.
Maybe, they're keeping a separate brand to avoid diluting their original brand (like VW, Audi, etc). But, even so, couldn't a better name be chosen?

Re: Royal Enfield electric bike | Flying Flea unveiled at EICMA 2024

I like the design but this is not the future of urban mobility. This, Honda motocompacto are all rich people's toys. I am far more excited for real electrics like River Indie.

Enfield marketing has been circling the drain for a while now. All their recent launches have been terrible and some in incredibly poor taste.
1. Himalayan 450 launch was so dragged out between EICMA and the reveal in India and both presentations had poor pacing.
2. Current Classic 350 ad glorifying colonialism
3. Guerilla 450 taking the piss out of actual good bikes by calling them 'plastic' and 'clones' and implying that their overweight pig of a bike is somehow the 'real' roadster
4. And now this flying flea commercial

Re: Royal Enfield electric bike | Flying Flea unveiled at EICMA 2024

I sort of liked it. However, if you do look at it from the front or rear, it looks almost like a luna. I hope RE works this out. But otherwise, if the Flea is supposed to be a homage to the Paratrooper motorcycles of WW2, I think they've done a pretty good job of marrying the old and the new.
Would I ride it? Why not? I like all things on 2 wheels

Re: Royal Enfield electric bike | Flying Flea unveiled at EICMA 2024

Doesn't look like it has room any significant battery pack. Probably 4kWh or less. 100 km range if you are doing 30kmph or less, or downhill, both ways.

Doesn't look like a serious motorbike. Happy to be proven wrong though.
