Rumour: Husqvarna deliveries to begin in January 2020

According to a media report, Bajaj is planning to launch the Husqvarna brand in India next month and deliveries are expected commence in January 2020. The brand's first two bikes are expected to be the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401.

The Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 are based on the KTM 390 Duke. The Svartpilen 401 is Scrambler type bike, while the latter is a cafe-racer. Both bikes feature a circular LED headlamp, single-pod digital instrument cluster and come with wire-spoke wheels.

The Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 are reported to be powered by the 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the KTM 390 Duke. In the KTM, it produces 43 BHP and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an anti-hopping clutch.

I think it will be bad timing for new launch. Market is already started to clear BS4 stock. It will be hard for newly launched Husqvarna bikes in India to compete against other.

I had mentioned the same on the 390 Adventure thread last week, there are talks about the announcement during India Bike Week at the beginning of next month. And yes the existing KTM stores are going to carry the brand. It would be interesting to see how these bikes are going to be positioned along with the KTM's.

Primary USP -

Might work as a KTM for those who didn't want to be associated with the 'image' associated with the orange.

I think these bikes will flop big time in India for the following reasons
1 - Too small for the price they command
2 - Zero brand recall
3 - Why not buy a Duke which is an established product?

I disagree with your points -

1 - Small as in the size of the bike or the engine capacity? And how do we know for sure at this point the premium that the brand might demand?

2 - KTM was unheard of in India before it became a runaway success. Brand Husqvarna strikes a special chord with the enthusiasts and if the product is good, will click with the masses as well.

3 - Not everyone want an angry looking orange hooligan and Bajaj products may be too pedestrian for people who want a better brand image. Enter Husqvarna.

I hope they launch it with the spoke wheels instead of orange alloys found on some of the test mule pictures of the Vitpilen.

In the world of Dominars/ KTMs/ RE’s - these are pretty new and fresh, provided they come with reasonable price tags minus dummy / unwanted marketing stunt that was pulled by Bajaj on Dominar as a brand with its launch. They shouldn’t be over optimistic or target any competitive brands but just have to enter as an entirely new segment and be independent with its operations.

Bikes do look good and could gain attention.

I have seen this bike in flesh and it looks fantastic unlike anything we have seen. This is going to do excellent and just do a Google search for CNET Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. That's a good review to read.

Not everyone wants a plain Jane motorcycle, some like the quirky and stylish stuff.

Husqvarna Svartpilen - This has got to be the most tongue twisting product name I have ever seen.

According to this Autocar India post, the 401's launch is rumored to happen only in mid 2021.
