Launched back in Jan 2020, sales of new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is 21 units for the first month. Total production of the Chetak e-scooter for Jan 2020 was 197 units.
that's disappointing to hear, i was expecting it to be above 500 at least.

By the way, I read somewhere about this "2403". It seems that it means the following!

2 - 2 wheeler
4 - 4 kW motor
0 - 0 tailpipe emissions
3 - 3 kWh battery back

So this was the logic that the sales executive didn't know!

Bajaj Chetak vs TVS iQube, March 2020 sales

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, now launched at Rs. 1 lakh-screenshot_20200421-bajaj-chetak-beats-tvs-iqube-electric-scooter-sales-march-2020.png
Chetak beats iQube in both monthly sales as well as FY 2020 sales.
Quote:
In the electric two-wheeler market, Ather Energy is often regarded as the benchmark. Still, major brands in the business have introduced decent products to the competition. This includes Bajaj Auto’s Chetak and TVS Motor Company’s iQube. In March 2020, Bajaj sold 91 units of its Chetak EV while TVS was able to sell only 18 iQube units. FY2020 (1 April 2019 – 31 March 2020) sales hit 212 and 62 units, respectively.

These figures cannot be compared to that of regular CVT scooter sales as both the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak are available only in select cities. Furthermore, half of March 2020 came under the Indian government’s COVID-19 lockdown protocol. The automotive industry has been badly hit by COVID-19 and while brands are planning new business strategies, several dealerships are on the verge of going out of business completely.

Re: Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, now launched at Rs. 1 lakh

As per the reports, the Chetak has sold 1,337 units in 2020. Production is hit by the global shortage of semiconductor chips, and no units were manufactured in the month of December, 2020.

Re: Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, now launched at Rs. 1 lakh

Hello!

Bajaj seems to have hiked the prices again for Chetak.
This time's hike appears steep.
I received a mailer, as I had registered with them, which says the Price starts Rs. 1,42,620 (ex-showroom Pune and Bengalore)
Refer attached image:

Surprisingly, if I go to Book Now, it still shows the old price.

Re: Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, now launched at Rs. 1 lakh

Seeing too many Chetaks nowadays here in South-West Bangalore. I can recognize them during night as well. Thanks to Headlight-Bright DRL's and Floodlight-Bright Headlights. What was an Ather bastion(have a dozen in my neighbourhood) last year is now ruled by Chetak. Most of owners are 45+. I think the NAME + conservative looks worked in favor.

May be this price is before the fame subsidy, yesterday when I checked it showed price as 1.2 lakh for the premium, with OTR at 1.26 lakh. Anyways I will wait to see what OLA has to offer, my commute is very low these days.

Nope.
Today I read an article on AutoCar which confirms this.
Sad that Mods here did not find it important enough to make a news out of it.

Bajaj Auto has increased the prices of the Chetak electric scooter by up to Rs. 27,620. The Premium variant now costs Rs. 1,44,620, while the Urbane variant is priced at Rs. 1,42,620 (ex-showroom, Pune).

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, now launched at Rs. 1 lakh-bajajchetakelectricscooter.jpg

Last week, Bajaj had re-opened online bookings for the Chetak e-scooter. The bookings were accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The Chetak e-scooter is powered by a 4.1 kW electric motor paired with an automated transmission. The motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery that has a claimed range of up to 95 km on a single charge. The battery can be recharged to 100% of its capacity in 5 hours. In 1 hour, the battery can be charged to 25% of its capacity.

At present, the Bajaj Chetak e-scooter is only available in Pune and Bangalore. The scooter will be launched in Hyderabad and Chennai soon. The company also plans to launch the Chetak in 24 other cities across India by 2022.

Hike upto 27K+ for a scooter ?
Used to hear those kind of numbers in Car price hikes, not in a ~ 1lakh scoot.

Dis they upgrade the battery / internals significantly ?

Re: Bajaj Chetak e-scooter prices hiked by up to Rs. 27,620

Once again Bajaj wants to kill a product which has the potential to sell well.
At this price, why will someone not buy Ather, which has better features, true range and safety (rear disc brake)
Product planning and marketing is really messed up at Bajaj!!
VFM is associated with Bajaj products, not in this case.

The Bajaj scores over Ather in seat comfort. I like the styling as well. The Ather seat is just too narrow. On other fronts, I feel both are equals, (except for the rear disc part)
