Is it because of the lease that the Insurance approval takes 5 days?
My e2o insurance is from GoDigit and did not have cashless tie up with Sireesh Auto. But the claim process was super smooth and I got the approval in a couple of hours. The advantage with Digit was that there was no Surveyors involved and you do self survey by taking photographs. I had given my experience in the Insurance Thread. Indeed an awesome and a very very long review cum experience shared about the Ather 450...! It took me nearly two and half hours to completely read the post..!

Seriously kudos to you sir for taking so much of time and effort to share your experience of your own Tesla on two wheels aka Ather 450...!
Eagerly waiting for my Ather 450 to be delivered in May 2019 so that even I can add up to the excitement in riding one at the earliest! Congratulations again sir!

Re: An 'e-motion'al connect - My Ather 450

Hats off for the well detailed review. Thanks for taking all the time and patiently detailing every aspect of the scooter. This helped me to learn a lot of things about the Ather 450 that I never ever really bothered to check-in before hand. Congratulations on the ownership. Wishing you many more happy miles with it.

Thank you! I've tried to be as unbiased as possible for the same reason.

Are you frustrated that I took 2.5 hours from your time?

You can say so. Too many parties - Insurance has phone number of the user but it is in the name of the leasing company. So, it is the User, Leasing company, Service centre.

Congratulations on the Ather, hemanth.anand! You're surely doing more than your bit to save the environment. If only the others would follow suit!
The 450 is the first EV that actually appeals to me aesthetically. Let's hope more manufacturers join the wagon soon and make beautiful EVs that people won't shy away from buying.

Re: An 'e-motion'al connect - My Ather 450

Great thread hemanth.anand !! This can be anyone's guide to Ather scooters. You have explained everything in details.

The scooter looks promising. I see that it has a 2.4kWh battery. So a full charge should take max 5 units or Rs. 40 with a range of 75 kms. This translates to 55-60p per kms. That is actually phenomenal.

Wish you many miles with it

Cheers,

Pawan

2.4KWh battery capacity means 2.4 units of electricity to fully charge it. Electricity units that we get on our bills each month is measured in KWh. So for full charge it will cost Rs 16.8 assuming Rs 7 per unit of electricity. Less than Rs 20 for 70 to 80 KMs of travel.

Aargh! I had not checked the engine kill switch. That gut wrenching feeling before you lift the scooter up…words can't explain that. When the scooter was lifted back, it was a sad sight. Left side panels had scratches all over.
Sad that you had to experience service center the hard way.
Since you barely hear the motor, its almost impossible to judge if the motor is running and am sure many would face this issue.
How about Ather integrating a pressure sensor on the seat to detect occupant and thereby supply/cut torque to rear wheel based on this feedback?

Re: An 'e-motion'al connect - My Ather 450

No worries about the service incident, happens with normal scooters too Almost never happens with geared bikes, hence we take the accelerator for granted.

Ather looks like a proper complete product which has been mass produced, amazing that they have pulled this off in India! Wish they had more color options though.

Re: An 'e-motion'al connect - My Ather 450

Excellent thread & congrats for the first Ather ownership on TBHP.

One thing to note is the cable charger is not waterproof and neither does it cut off power automatically. People who have only this must be aware of this and switch off once the charging is complete
This is rather surprising, considering that even Rs 1500 dumb phones have auto cut off. Surely there must be some mechanism within the battery itself to prevent overcharging. Otherwise what is stopping it from bursting?

Quote:
When the scooter is kept overnight without charging, there is a drain of 2% in the battery. This is called Trickle drain or vampire draining. whenever the scooter is not being used for more than 3 days, it is recommended to shut down the scooter to reduce this trickle. Ather recommends that the scooter be charged at least once in 100 days to avoid creating any damage to the system
I didn't get the bit about "shut down the scooter". Doesn't it simply mean powering off? Also does trickle drain happen only after 3 days without running?

Quote:
Ather Charge*- This covers the data and the charging. Users get unlimited data and public charging in this plan. It costs 6000 per month or 1650 per quarter.
Per month & per quarter cost doesn't add up

I think Ather should've also kept an option for no plan subscription. The average monthly plans are appearing to be equivalent to paying for petrol. Yes, there are benefits to the subscription, but the main advantage of opting for an electric vehicle (low running cost) is negated. Why not let consumers have the option of not tying themselves to any plan, just pay for charging & servicing cost?

Re: An 'e-motion'al connect - My Ather 450

One helluva review, Hemanth. Read it at my own sweet pace inspite of being a long one. It’s written so beautifully explaining the A to Z of this scooter and then some more! This should serve as a holy grail for those planning to buy this!

Thanks...a small bit but yes. With a considerable portion of electricity in Karnataka coming from renewable sources, it's guilt free to a certain extent.

I guess manufacturers have realised that EVs need not be quirky looking. People will buy it I'm sure a few years down the line eventually they will have to.

its only 2.4 units and it will be 20p to 30p per km (see my calculation in the previous posts). Tomorrow the scooter will be completing 1 mo th and will come closer to 1000kms. Yesterday got an electricity bill and I've got around 300 rupees extra.

Low beam is very good actually. High beam however almost non-existent

A simple buzzer would be enough too

I see 2 reasons why there are no other colours.
1. One colour is easy to handle in the factory...especially for a startup with a new product.
2. White is the most preferred colour anyway.
I expect them to come up with different colours in the future.
