I don't think it is available off the shelf. I have looked for it and it doesn't even exist on page 3 of google . One might need to fabricate the same I guess.

Trying to make sense of high altitude and brake fade. Here's what I could come up with.

High altitudes >> rarer air >> lower air pressure >> lower boiling point of water

Here's the air pressure data for leh.

Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin-air-pressure-leh.png

Here's the boiling point of water with respect to atmospheric pressure

My theory:
  • The bike in question had its brake fluid contaminated with moisture.
  • The brake fluid gets hot due to prolonged use in the mountains.
  • Moisture separates out (as air) of the brake fluid at a lower temperature (maybe around 90deg C)
  • Now the brake line has a lot of 'Compressible' air in it.
  • Rider applies brakes which only compresses the air in the line and does not actually move any brake fluid. Hence the pistons in the calipers don't move much.
  • So the brakes are not actually fading, they are not getting applied in the first place

End of gyaan

Got a set of MRF Zapper Hyke tubeless tyres via Throttle and Thump, thanks to RajeevSulu for letting me know about them. It was a good and smooth experience dealing with them.
The manufacturing dates are February and March and costs 9k for both.
I am yet to fit them since the stock Ceat tyres have a bit more to go and the puncture which I noticed doesn't seem to be present any more. Probably it was a small one which got sealed with the sealant paste in the tube.

This looks like the Pirelli Sportscomp's tread. I think the same set is made for the Harley 440X, hence available now. More the options, the merrier it is

Happy riding,

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

What's the longest you've gone without refueling on the interceptor?

Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin-whatsapp-image-20240630-20.37.47_6958b062.jpg

I had clocked 260km which I have never done and the fuel bar didn't blink yet, My favorite fuel station was 30 km away, so I took the risk, and it turned out I had nothing to worry about as it took in only 10.3L to the brim.

Also turned out this was the best mileage I had gotten to date. This time around I had kept upshifting at about 3k rpm and never went beyond 80-100kmph, all through the highway.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Does anyone have any idea whether RE will release new color schemes for the Interceptor 650s? They usually update the color options every 2-3 years. Glitter and Dust, Mark Three, Ravishing Red, and Silver Spectre were discontinued in the first quarter of 2021. Orange Crush and Baker Express, which had been available since the release of the twins, were discontinued in the first quarter of 2023 (they were kept in production due to strong worldwide demand). If this trend continues, Canyon Red and Sunset Strip are due for discontinuation.

Are you planning to install them with the tube, or get alloys installed on your bike?

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Folks - need your help, please. I am clueless about this!

I have a 2019 Interceptor, and it hasn't run much. I just use it for 1-2 kms everyday, and it has run around 6,000 kms so far. Over the last 7-8 months, I am having constant issues with my bike (specifically starting related). Here is the sequence of events:

1. In September 2023, the battery light started to glow, and one day, the bike didn't start. Given that it was 4 years old, I got the battery replaced, and all seemed fine.

2. Within 15 days, the bike refused to start again, and when I called the battery guy, he came and checked and said that the battery had somehow discharged.

3. He charged it, put back in the bike, and it ran for another 15 days.

4. When the problem occurred again, he sent the battery back to Amaron, and they tested it as per their procedure and sent back a report saying it was perfect. The battery guy said it could be an issue with the rectifier, because of which the battery isn't getting charged while running.

5. I took the bike to the RE service center, and they said it could be a rectifier issue, as many Interceptors have that problem, and they replaced it.

6. To my shock, within a month of replacing the rectifier, the same problem occurred! This time I was livid, and i pressurized the battery guy to get the battery replaced from Amaron, as it seemed like I had received a faulty battery.

7. Now, once the replacement battery was put in, the bike ran well for around 45 days, and one (not so) fine day, the same problem occurred!

When I turn on the ignition, all the lighs come up. When I try to start, I just get a clicking sound. The bike doesn't crank. When I press the horn button, the intensity doesn't seem like it is powered by a weak battery. It seems loud and strong. The headlight also seems to light up pretty bright.

Has anyone faced a similar issue?
If yes, how did it get resolved?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good service center in Bangalore? I have been visiting the RE service center in Iblur, but I have lost confidence in their ability to identify and fix this issue.

Please help!

I have the same make and year as you do, and problems were resolved by changing the battery. would like to pass on what I learned about the interceptor starting system I learned in the process.

If you're battery, and the rectifier is good, you must check the ignition coil, stator, and crank position sensor.

the crank position sensor is also a critical component because despite providing optimum voltage if it is at the wrong timing then the bike won't start.

I read somewhere that the interceptor has a TCI transistor-controlled ignition which is controlled by the ECU, so crank angle sensors are important.

Check these things,

What is the bike voltage as measured at the terminals before during and after the start button is pressed.

If you have aftermarket accessories isolate them to eliminate the source of battery drain.

resistance of ignition coil and stator to eliminate them as problems.

attaching some useful links to read up.

trouble shooting electrical faults is a big headache. hope this is of some help, and members can add to this.
