Ultraviolette F77 electric bike set to debut in H1 2022

Bangalore-based EV start-up, Ultraviolette, has announced that the first batch of its F77 high-performance electric motorcycle will roll out in the first half of 2022.

Earlier this week, the company also said that it had received a fresh round of funding, enabling it to launch the F77 in the market at the earliest. The Series C funding was led by TVS Motor Company and Zoho Corporation.

The Ultraviolette F77 is powered by an electric motor that has a maximum output of 33.5 BHP and 450 Nm. The bike is claimed to accelerate from 0-60 km/h in 3.0 seconds.

Initially, the F77's battery pack offered a range of 150 km on a single charge. However, the production version is likely to have a longer range.

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

I like everything the bike offers especially the option of the removable batteries which can be charged at home or the option to keep an additional set of batteries on a trip to allow for longer range without charging.
I also imagine they will establish battery swapping centers which would allow for seamless battery swaps. Hoping they price it well. Anything in the 3 lakh range and I will be very interested.

Very promising, and has a potential to create a niche segment if priced well.

Isn't that an extra 0 in the 450 NM torque figure? Electric motors are high on torque, but not as disproportionate as this one. And then there is no purpose of such monstrous torque in a 2-wheeler

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

Looking at this setup, I feel they should have kept some lever on the left hand side of the handle bar. Muscle memory will force the rider to grab the clutch lever every time brakes are applied. Its already a sudden change from a petrol gear bike to a gearless smooth bike and this additional changes will give a strange and different feeling at the start. If any of the Ultraviolette guys reading this comment, please add a lever for regen control or motor power reduction or something else in the left hand side. But please don't leave it blank, you will seriously get this comment after launch. I am happy to see the foot brake set-up for rear wheels which is not available in some Chinese kit bikes to my knowledge.

I remember reading somewhere that the 450 Nm is at the wheel.

I don't think a fake lever is necessary. What they're doing follows the precedent of automatic motorcycles, electric or petrol. The Africa Twin DCT also doesn't a lever there, and nor does the Harley Davidson Livewire. If someone really wants a lever, I'm sure they can put one there as an aftermarket accesory, and just pull it for vibes.

I didn't meant fake lever, It should be functional otherwise it will be dumb. I've given couple of ideas as well.

I am talking for an Indian like me who has driven more than 100,000km (60km in metro city traffic with a gear lever and suddenly moving to an ebike without a lever at all. I don't know how many African Twin DCT and Harley riders drove at least 10k km in an Indian metro city during peak hour traffic. It's for a guy like me who uses a 200CC bike for office commute will take this F77 bike than a weekend highway rider in my opinion.

To be clear here, I'm using an ebike without lever in the left side and I'm feeling really annoyed in my whole 3000km driving experience. It may be due to the mixed driving of both gear bike and ebike.

He then graduated on to the Mahindra Treo electric autorickshaw recently and even made some suggestions to Anand Mahindra via twitter.

I only wish such influential people chose to ride on public roads with mandatory safety gear like a helmet, when they make put up such posts on social media. Such posts do set a bad example for impressionable riders.

The torque at the wheel is 450Nm, the actual motor torque is 90Nm.

Ultraviolette F77 electric bike teased

Bangalore-based EV start-up, Ultraviolette, has released a teaser video of its upcoming F77 electric bike. It is set to debut in the first half of this year.

Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019-screenshot-20220105-142110.jpg

The Ultraviolette F77 is powered by an electric motor that has a maximum output of 33.5 BHP and 450 Nm. The bike is claimed to accelerate from 0-60 km/h in 3.0 seconds and has a top speed of 140 km/h.

The battery is located where the engine would be in a conventional bike. It is said to offer a maximum range of 150 km on a single charge. The bike has multiple riding modes and a regenerative braking system.

The F77 looks unlike any other electric bike on the market today. It's a fully-faired bike with an aggressive riding posture. It is equipped with upside-down forks at the front and has a mono-shock at the rear.

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

Once again in a similar boat as the Ola, the new companies desperately need success especially when the product category is all new and the manufacturer largely unknown. The electric pipeline on the otherside is just not as cost effective at this moment, and it all boils down to price, even I will be willing to buy such a cool bike but provided the price shocks me and is well below for what I feel it is worth for, if they however price it to cover costs (as many electric manufacturers have) and then feel that people will still queue up, then apart from hard core environmentalists and people who just don't care about money (a very small majority), no one would buy it.

I won't mind seeing a lot of these on our roads and I feel a lot of Apache RTR, R15/MT15, Duke crowd can seriously consider this bike but provided they launch it at a mouthwatering price of under/around 1.5 Lakhs. Lets hope they do, I'am seriously disappointed with the idea of EVs being good but cost being a prohibitive factor, I don't even want to start about what if I have to buy a new battery pack after 3-4 years cost.

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

Are removal batteries for charging safe ? We have been seeing many instances of batteries in low end scooters catching fire.

They could be prone to getting damaged while handling which might prove to be unsafe.

This bike might not be for everyone. A 200km (practical 150km) range commuter bike is what everyone needs. Hopefully we will see some developments in that direction which could change commuting in our country

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

Let me put in a couple of words:
UltraViolette Automotive was founded by Narayan and Niraj. Both were classmates at my Alma Mater, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore in the Departmentof Mechanical Engg. I've known and interacted with Narayan; primarily on the Basketball court, because he was a good player.
He went on to study at National Institute of Design and Umea School of Design, before working for the VW's Design team at Wolfsburg, Deutschland.
I daresay he knows what the market wants and definitely knows what he is doing. There's a reason a lot of established players in the 2W segment are betting on him. Always counted on the guy to deliver what he said he would.
He's built the product and almost every component, from the ground up, tested them under extreme conditions, integrated those components into a product, followed by more system and real-world testing.
I wish the guys the very best. I'm rooting for him to succeed. I, for one, will pay full market price, to buy the product when it's out. My way of supporting a friend who has dared to not only dream, but to build something.

My humble request to fellow bhp'ians: give him a chance and let him pleasantly surprise you. If he comes up short, support him with your constructive criticism/ advise/ comments.

God knows he doesn't need my support or any of my words above, but he does need a fair chance at taking on the competition. Never back down; the guy I knew in college.
