I am sorry, but seems like a mistake here.
Must be 45 Nm torque, not 450

Let me know if this is indeed the output from the bike, would be out of this world

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

Great.

For long I have been withour a motorcycle (since I scrapped my 2001 Fiero) and now I want to skip the IC engine ones and directly get an electric. I am using an electric scooter (Avan Xero+) for a year now and super happy with the instant acceleration "off the block" and silent and smoke free ride.

This F77 looks like the one I was wishing for, would like to go for this instead of Revolt 400 - the only choice in the market as of now.

One question - with 25kW and 90NM, why does this thing take 7.5 sec for 0 to 100? Shouldn't it be sub-5 sec?

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

The F77 is priced between Rs 3-3.25 lakh. Online registrations begin today, with deliveries set to begin in the third quarter of 2020.

Quote:
Ultraviolette Automotive has unveiled its first product, the F77, in three variants – the F77 Lightning, F77 Shadow and F77 Laser – with prices ranging between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 3.25 lakh (on-road). The F77 is India’s first performance-oriented electric motorcycle and the specifications on offer are certainly impressive.

Registrations for the F77 have begun today and deliveries are set to begin in the third quarter of 2020, with initial sales planned exclusively for Bengaluru
  • Commendable effort from Ultraviolette unlike many EV 2-wheeler makers in the segment who were just pasting their brand stickers on Chinese vehicles and selling them in India, few exceptions are Tork, Ather, ...etc.
  • For the bike, tech, and their efforts, 3 to 3.25 lakh on-road price is reasonable in my books.
  • If I am in the market now, I will buy this bike and Ather scooter any day over the current crop of EVs in the market. There might be few issues since these are from startups, but still I will go with them.

Saw the event, got goose bumps when seeing the bike in action, going past the camera with that jet engine sound. An excellent presentation, gave lot of info on the work that has gone into making the bike.
Was expecting a price of 2L to 2.5L, slightly disappointed on that but not so much that i would not go ahead with this. I signed up for pre-order already

Is this a typo? How does 90nm at the crank translate to 450 at the wheel!!

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

Seems to be following the footsteps of Ather i.e. Startup from Bangalore, Swanky Office, Great Tech, Decent Pricing etc.
I had heard about this start-up from my brother. The CTO of this startup was my brother's classmate from BMSCE college, 2008 batch of IT branch IIRC and the CEO is from Mech branch. Looks like they have come up with a decent product but considering the newly launched product with pricing north of 3lacs, I am not too sure about its sales. The percentage of people who can afford a bike above 3lacs is already low and the selected few out of that who would consider an EV instead of ICE bike would be even lower. But I do hope this becomes a successful venture and we get to see more Indian companies churning out performance machines.

That thing looks like KTM Duke with rather large and ugly engine cover.

The Young CEO said it on STAGE during the launch (31:00).

Re: Ultraviolette F77 electric bike to be unveiled on November 13, 2019

A few members of our local biking group had been called for an exclusive viewing last month by UA. I came away pleasantly surprised by what I saw at their office. The fit and finish looks top notch and the bike oozes class.

I am not in the market right now for a 2nd motorcycle or else I might have definitely considered this for intra-city runs. I believe the target audience are actually the well heeled who already own big bikes from Triumph, Kawasaki etc. and who are looking for a smaller 2nd bike for use inside the city.

The motor produces 90 Nm of torque. Multiply this by the gearing ratio, in this case, 5, which equals 450 Nm.

FYI the 790 Duke makes 87 Nm of Torque OFFICIALLY (am guessing after all those multiplication of the Gear Ratios)

Speed x Torque = Power

If gearing increases torque by 5 times then speed reduces by 5 times. If it indeed makes 450Nm then its like a road roller or tractor. Don't know the torque ranges of both.
