The new championship can act as a stepping stone for Indian riders who wish to race in international events. Three new teams have been created for Asian riders in international racing championships. These include Honda Asia Dream Racing, which competes in the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race and JSB1000 class of the All Japan Road Race Championship, Idemitsu Honda Team Asia and Honda Team Asia, which provide a platform for Asian riders in Moto2 and Moto3 classes respectively.

The Honda NSF 250R is powered by a 249cc engine and has a RAM air intake. It has a low centre of gravity and an optimised swingarm.

In 2008, Honda launched its one-make racing series in India, which featured the CBR 150R and CBR 250R. Honda also races in the Pro Stock 165 and SuperSport 165 class of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship.
