Bajaj Pulsar 150cc Classic launched

Any pictures of the original "Definitely Male" round headlamp and a stubby badass tail section motorcycle with 2018 tech? I am afraid all that is going to be watered down as its not anything close.

I had started searching my cheque book. Sigh!

Excerpt from the news:

Quote:
The Bajaj Pulsar 150 Classic is only available in black, with blacked-out components and styling reminiscent of the Pulsar 150 UG III (launched in 2006).
Quote:
Mechanically, the Pulsar 150 Classic remains identical to the standard offering. It’s powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder motor developing 14hp at 8,000rpm and 13.4Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a five-speed gearbox. The frame and suspension are also unchanged from the standard offering. Braking hardware consists of a 240mm disc brake at front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear. Since the Pulsar 150 Classic is a variant, and not a new product, Bajaj isn't compelled to equip the motorcycle with ABS.

re: Bajaj Pulsar 150cc Classic launched

For a moment my heart rhythm rose when I saw the thread title, but was soon disappointed as you were. Though not to buy the same, I was more interested in scrapping my P220's fairing and going for a decent pair of modern round beams.

Though this is a move by Bajaj to sell existing hardware what is commendable is the substantial price cut. I wonder what reasonable excuse anyone opting for the Honda Unicorn in 2018 would have comparing the likes of the P150C, personal preferences aside that is.

Try the round lamps of RE's, pretty good beam and throw [the only part of any RE that I like]. Else, there is Ali Express.

Well, this is apparently reminiscent of UGIII which never had the round headlamps. UGIII had the the flared headlamp unit.

What however caught my eye is this excerpt from the article:

"Since the Pulsar 150 Classic is a variant, and not a new product, Bajaj isn't compelled to equip the motorcycle with ABS" - So this means we should not expect ABS for any the models which are on the road today, from any of the heavyweights. Sigh!

re: Bajaj Pulsar 150cc Classic launched

IMO, naming a 150cc UG3 variant as classic is misleading and not correct at all. The first gen launched way back in 2002/2003 is a classic not any of the later models.

re: Bajaj Pulsar 150cc Classic launched

Actually I'm pretty surprised that even the original Pulsar is considered a classic. No offense meant to any owners; I own a Pulsar myself. And I do remember the excitement when we saw the first 'original' Pulsar in college and got to ride it. Yes, when launched it was a step up in the Indian biking scene, but what makes a classic?

I'm pretty surprised by a lot of bikes getting the 'classic' tag now- RX135, Shogun, CI Bullet (again, no offense intended, I've owned a Shogun and a Bullet myself). They were all great bikes for their time, and I personally had a lot of fun on them, but they were nowhere near as good as perhaps nostalgia remembers them! Almost any modern bike is faster, safer and easier to maintain.

IMHO, only the Yezdi and the RD350 are deserving of the 'classic' tag from that era. (I don't know anything about the bikes before that era, so perhaps there are some more that are classics in the dictionary definition of the term.)

Please correct me of I am wrong, but post 31st Mar 2019 any 2W with engine capacity >125 cc needs to get ABS (New Model or Existing Model).

Ask the "MILLENNIALS", if its Old Enough for them to remember... guess its a CLASSIC.

I guess it has more to do with the other definition of 'Classic' being "remarkably and instructively typical
", on that front a 2017 CT100B(typical motorcycle) is more classic than a Splendor Classic(typical motorcycle with self starter) which is more Classic than the new Pulsar Classic(not so typical with DC electricals, self starter, auto-decompressor but still carburetted) which in turn is more classic than a Classic 500(which is a modern pushrod with a decompressor, self starter and fuel injection), cause a motorcycle with a fuel injection fails to register as typical in my thought process, might be middle class conditioning or frugality uncertain of what to blame it on.

Did consider RE beams a while ago but was advised against opting for them due to pricing and quality, as an alternative it was suggested I go for Ambassador Multireflector sealed beams with Pulsar Classic dome, but unfortunately they are hard to come by.

The only headlight equipment I'd consider buying from Aliexpress would be a LED headlight bulb. Everything else would be better bought locally from OEM suppliers, reason being my lights stay on all the time(even on the 100) and I've burnt a few reflectors in the past to know better.

On a related note Hella sealed beams are available for 400/-, though I'm holding back for a better match as the Hella ones come with a pilot function which is something i don't need.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150cc Classic launched

We seem to be in love with calling everything a "Classic", when it isn't, or a case where it makes no sense.

It started off with the Maruti Suzuki Zen Classic. God knows which retard in the company decided to pull this one off. I wonder how they got buy in from the parent company too.

HM Contessa Classic. Again; I don't know where or why it was called a "Classic". It is sort of a classic today though.

HM Ambassador Classic. As if you needed to be reminded that you were driving a relic.

Royal Enfield Classic. The highest selling Enfield model ever. May suit the model but if you want the real deal, get yourself the Standard which is as "classic" as it gets.

Now we have the Bajaj Pulsar Classic. Is Bajaj trying to remind us how pathetic the reliability of this motorcycle was? I'll give them credit for introducing the first "Fast" 4 stroke motorcycle and at a time the segment was in limbo. Please do not call it a Classic though.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150cc Classic launched

Pulsar "Classic" has been launched in two more color options - with Red and Silver accents.

Source: Overdrive

Quote:
The bike is now available in red or silver accents, while the base colour remains black. It is priced at Rs 64,998 ex-showroom Delhi.

These contrasting accents can be found on the bike's side panels, rims, headlamp unit, badging and grab handle. Contrasting stitching is available on the seat as well.
I still don't understand what is "Classic" in this version, other than introducing a new variant of the best selling Pulsar.
