Well yes, for the Duke 390 I do agree, however when the RCs launched in the market in 2014, people still waited for a standard waiting period of 90 days. That was the first sports bike made in India. There was no hue and cry then.

But for a new product, that too from an Indian manufacturer who did not even have a successful 200cc product so far, the 310rr needs to have a best first impression.
Agreed. Hence they are taking it slow so that the vehicles actually delivered to real customers are niggle free and cannot afford to have a bad impression in the new market they are entering.

Ultimately, the actual customers will tell whether the bike is good or bad in terms of quality and performance.

Spoke to the SA, he is saying this week the display vehicle would be arriving. He is still maintaining the stance that bikes will he delivered 2nd or 3rd week Jan.

Disappointed only from one fact that there is no clear communication, I don't mind waiting, but what I would really appericate is good solid information. Transparency is something that Indian dealers generally lack, no matter what the product is.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

The problem is not about waiting, will wait if the communication was such. The customers or even the dealers have no proper timeline, communications from TVS is a problem. That uncertainty is not good for anyone, especially for customers.

Shelar TVS just called today and said seven days from now we are "expecting" the bikes to arrive. They are still expecting and not sure. If I had the surety of Jan end, Feb end, March-end, I'd still wait at least I know when the deliveries will commence. There's still no quotation from the showroom too, don't know how the auto websites have updated on road prices. TVS is testing the bike again(confirmed by showroom) that is good, the company wants to rectify issues whatever they may be. And the irony TVS just won Communications and PR award.

If you know someone in TVS, you can get 5% discount if he refers you.

Highly disappointed with the fact that only Black's will be sold in the initial slot. Wonder what that has to do with QC and why proudly display the red bike in all marketing campaigns if you're not going to sell that in the first slot.

Even after paying the booking amount I am slowly tilting towards KTM now.

The dealers in coimbatore have still not received display bike and have no idea still when deliveries will start.

I believe 99% would have booked Red and I assume TVS may want to change the buyer's mind to go for Black and clear stock. Then later they may plan the production colour as per bookings.

The reason for delay to send display/test ride bikes could be that they may be working on the feedback from many auto journalists when they did initial test ride on 6th Dec. Vibrations at 6000K rpm is one issue.

Got this reply from TVS on twitter. Finally something positive, but should I be happy just yet?

I've asked them to confirm the rumors of only black being delivered at first. Let's wait.....

At least in the Chennai dealer I talked to (Logesh Auto), the Red vs Black is split in 60-40 respectively.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

Lot of rushlane articles are clickbaits without valid sources, they usually just put couple of new sentences and rest of the article is old article.

it is kind of funny that why would a manufacturer not ship one color, when they only have two options. It would have made sense if the bikes were two different variants like ABS and Non ABS.

Its probably based on the production demand planning in Hosur. Since this bike is probably being built on the same line as the BMW bikes, the BMW bikes are probably higher priority compared to the TVS bikes. Sure a launch is really important in the home country, but dont want to run out of parts for a global bike.

Red plastics have a tendency to show more defects and there QC probably wants to make sure theres no issues. Id gladly wait for a cherry 310RR if the plastics were top notch.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

The Apache 310RR is on display at Bharat TVS, Jayanagar, Bengaluru.

Points to note:
* On road price is 2.68 lakhs
* 50 bookings so far
* Deliveries starting in January
* Expected current waiting time is 3 months
* Test rides start next month once the RTO clears it

What I found interesting in the 3 minutes I spent looking at the bike:
* Overall fit and finish is good, not great
* The front fairing is surprisingly wide
* The tyre hugger looks ugly
* The front brake hose is not a single piece. The hose goes from the master cylinder to a coupler block on the right fork leg. A second hose goes from the coupler to calliper on the left fork leg. The second hose is visible in the last photo below.
* The oil filter is a spin on cartridge. The front bottom fairing has to removed to access it.

The matte black looks very dull. TVS should have used a mix of glossy and matte black.

Nice, Prakuthi tvs is now saying that they will receive the display bike next week. Interesting, first tvs chose 4 dealers for Bangalore, and now they can't even get bikes to all 4 of them at the same time. TVS sure is not setting the first Impression right.

It is quite surprising actually that Prakruti TVS has not got it. I got a call from Bharath TVS folks that the bike arrived Friday late evening and they will put it up for display on Wednesday. A red is billed and in transit.

I believe Ashwa Motors has received one unit. While Prakruti and Solar are awaiting the first bike.

TVS if you are reading this, you can write a book on how to shoot your own foot.

Re: TVS Apache RR 310 launched at Rs. 2.05 lakh

I went and checked out the Apache RR 310 today at Ashwa TVS, Bangalore. The bike is a looker. Good design by TVS. Quite impressedwith how the front and rear matches and line flow evenly. And that's where the good part ends.

No one bothered to even attend to me while I just stood there for 10 minutes. From the moment I entered, the sales executives were busy in their phones and walking around. Good job TVS. Killing your own product at the start. I was shocked that till I walked out there was no one to even hand out a brochure. Even brochures about the bike was not available. Meanwhile, I observed the bike for a good 10 minutes and here are a few observations which I noted.

1. Finish is ok. Not that great. For a ₹2.66 lakh, bike I expected more. The key cylinder was exposed right down to the bottom. I was expecting at least a plastic cover for the same. The wires at the rear for the indicator lights are exposed and not hidden. Would have preferred more better wire routing.
2. Certain places the panel gaps are uneven.
3. The mud guard at the rear is mounted on the rear axle bolt. So removal is a tedious process of unscrewing the chain slack adjustment nut and then removing the mud guard holder.
4. The toner wheel for ABS/Vehicle speed is different from what is available in Dominar and KTMs.
5. The wires for the rear indicator and the registration plate light are exposed. Looks like cleaning will be a tough job. Shoddy cover up.
6. Heat management seems to be good since lots of vents and heat shields are provided for the bike.

Overall, in one corner of my mind, I thought the bike would be a good addition to my existing stable, but no, the TVS dealer seem to have pushed me away. Not sure about the other dealers in Bangalore but this one seems to be off-putting.
