Pics: The new Hero Impulse?

I could not find a thread on this bike. Its the factory entry at the ongoing Raid De Himalaya.
Any details would be welcome.

Re: Pics: The new Hero Impulse?

This thing looks like it's in the 150-170cc range going by the similar looking engine! It has an oil cooler though!
Note the rear swingarm!

Re: Pics: The new Hero Impulse?

The bike looks more of a custom built for Raid de Himalaya from the standard Impulse. The flange for connecting inlet and outlet ports for oil cooler is very neatly done.

Also it looks like there is a lambda sensor as well. Could be running on Fuel Injection.

Reminded me of something from TNT motorcycles last year.

Strangely the swingarm looks slightly smaller than the stock version. The rear disc however is a nice addition.

Overall looks like a good competitor with the bigger front forks, new exhaust, new swingarm, etc. But, am I the only one who's wondering if the tyre's are same as the exhaust?

There is the lambda sensor and he seems to have picked up the ECU and the Fuel injection system from some bike.

Overall a neatly done up project for sure.

Entire engine and Oil cooler is from a ZMR which is fuel injected.

Yes, throttle body and injector is visible instead of a carb in the first picture.

I think this is the same 200cc mill which was showcased during the 2016 expo in Xtreme 200s. But that engine was air-cooled so this engine might be specifically modified for the event...

Re: Pics: The new Hero Impulse?

It is best not to give too much thought on what engine this bike uses, what specs it will have etc.
Hero is working on bikes like this (including the HX-something, Hastur etc) at a pace slower than a snail. Maybe when my baby boy grows up he will see it's launch.
Next time, I will believe they are launching a new bike, when I see it in flesh, in the showroom.

Re: Pics: The new Hero Impulse?

Dont know what came about of the RDH participation. RDH visibility is so archaic that I think they really want to keep the results obscure. Will help if any of the readers here find out and let us all know.
Meanwhile Honda XRE300 was spotted in the Honda factory and news is that they are completing/completed the Homologation soon. So, hopefully,* 2018 should see this bike on the road, with the added advantage of early buyers getting bikes made with imported components.
After years of dragging their rear through slush Hero will lose the plot to the XRE and again curse that that 'Impulse types' have no market in India.

This XRE300 will be a nice filler bike until the KTM 390 ADV with all its trickery gets launched and initial gremlins ironed out.

But that seat height of 860 MM. I mean like

Hope Honda has some accessory lowered seat or something. 260MM ground clearance is

Himalayan killer...here we come.
