Benelli TNT 300 now gets ABS as standard

Quote:
DSK Benelli had no ABS models available across their range as little as a year ago. But today, not only does the 600i have standard ABS, but the brand-new relaxed-feel sportsbike, the 302R has standard ABS as well. And now, DSK Benelli will make ABS standard equipment on their most affordable model on the market, the TNT 300. The TNT 300 competes with a whole bunch of motorcycles from the KTM 200 and 250 Dukes - no ABS option - to the KTM 390 Duke (always has had standard ABS). At the other end of the spectrum are twin-cylinder motorcycles like the Kawasaki Z250 or Ninja 300 - no ABS there either. Of course, while DSK Benelli is to be applauded for making this essential safety technology standard, come April 2018, ABS will be standard for all two-wheelers above 150cc anyway.

Nothing else has changed in specification for the DSK Benelli TNT 300 though. The motorcycle retains its trellis frame, rebound and preload adjustable rear shock and the 300cc parallel twin engine that makes 38PS and 26.5Nm. The ABS unit's addition should raise the weight from a fairly heavy 196kg by another 3-6kg though.

The new DSK Benelli TNT 300 ABS is priced at Rs 3.29 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India) which represents a price increment of Rs 12,000 approximately. The bookings for this motorcycle are now open and the non-ABS model will be discontinued.

Benelli TNT 300 gets ABS as standard. Priced at Rs. 3.29 lakh

The 2017 Benelli TNT 300 now comes equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard. The updated model has been launched at a price of Rs. 3.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Apart from adding an ABS unit, DSK-Benelli hasn't made any major mechanical changes to the TNT 300. The bike is based around a trellis frame and measures 2,130 mm in length, 800 mm in width, 1,120 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,410 mm. The kerb weight is 196 kg which is slightly more than the outgoing non-ABS version and it has fuel tank capacity of 16 litres.

DSK-Benelli recently launched the 302R which gets ABS as standard fitment. Like the 302R and the larger capacity TNT 600i, the TNT 300 also gets an ABS cancel switch.

The TNT 300 comes with inverted front telescopic forks and an adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. Brakes come in the form of petal-type dual discs in the front and a single disc at the rear that are hooked up to an ABS unit. The naked bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 120/70 or 110/70 section front tyres and 160/60 or 150/60 section tyres at the rear.

The Benelli TNT 300 is powered by a 300cc, in-line 2-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which makes 38 BHP @ 11,500 rpm and produces a peak torque of 26.5 Nm @ 10,000 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed transmission. The TNT 300 ABS is available with four colour options - Verde, Bianco, Rosso and Nero.

Good to have ABS as standard, additional safety is always better. The Pirellis do a good job though. I have ridden my friends TNT 300 and it is very comfortable. Sounds impressive as well. The only gripe with this machine is the huge servicing costs.

True but I hear the new 302R comes with a 4 year unlimited kms warranty? For a bike, where more things are exposed to the elements and likely to fail and fewer things are properly damped compared to a car, I feel this is an excellent proposition to offset the service cost.

I had not heard about it but a quick search confirmed that Benelli is offering the said warranty. This may be for the first lot of prospective buyers although that has not been mentioned anywhere. Excellent offer nonetheless.

Depends on individuals liking though. Personally, I like both the TNT and 302R.

Correct, 4 years warranty is there across range of Benelli and regarding expensive service interval which is at 4k (or every 4 months), they had introduced Happy Savings Plan or HSP which cuts your servicing costs by 50-60% but the downside to this is the HSP is only valid for the dealership where you have purchased it.
