Honda Scoopy spotted in India

Honda could be planning to launch the Scoopy in India. The retro-styled scooter was spotted along with the Grom (MSX125).

The Honda Scoopy gets an oval LED headlamp cluster on its front cowl, flanked by turn signals. The tail light gets a similar treatment with indicators on either side and chrome surrounds. The scooter gets circular, dual tone rear view mirrors. It also featured front disk brakes and rear drum brakes. The Scoopy sported 12-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear.

The Scoopy is currently sold in Indonesia with a 108.2cc, single-cylinder engine with fuel-injection. It produces 9 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 9.4 Nm of peak torque @ 6,000 rpm. It rides on telescopic front suspension and a single shock absorber at the rear.

The Honda Scoopy could compete with the likes of the Yamaha Fascino in the Indian market. That said, Honda 2 Wheelers hasn't made any official announcement regarding this.

Instead of 'Retro', this evokes 'weird and ugly' feelings inside me.

What is that Steel "Thali" like apparatus doing on the front cowl?
Is it placed there to reflect the hell out of oncoming vehicles and get them out of the way?

Re: Honda Scoopy spotted in India

First look at this and it reminds of newer Honda Products like Navi and Cliq and more recently Grom. Looks of which is either love or hate. Nothing in between

Frankly for me, Scoopy is again a thumbs down, especially the front which looks hideous with big headlamp cluster which spoils the form factor. Probably Honda should go back to drawing board and come with a more pleasing scooters.

I had an opportunity to ride the Scoopy for a few kms. while on trip to Bali. Its just like an Active 125 but with slightly more power, slightly better suspension and rather radical looks. These looks will be very polarising in India and you will either love it or it will make you go "Ewww"!

Re: Honda Scoopy spotted in India

Honda has filed a patent for the Scoopy scooter in India but it might be a while before we get an official announcement. Until then, here's some scoop on the Scoopy:

110cc air-cooled engine
9hp, 9.3Nm (international spec)
LED headlight
Keyless ignition, semi-digital instrument cluster, USB charger
12" wheels
Front disc brake, rear drum, CBS

It's priced at an equivalent of Rs 1.08 lakh in Indonesia, however, it could be much more affordable when Honda manufactures it here.
