TVS Motors has launched a Matte series in the Scooty Zest 110 line-up. This special edition series comes with 4 new colours - Matte Yellow, Matte Blue, Matte Red and Matte Black, and is priced at Rs. 50,488 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The standard model comes in 4 colour options: Turquoise Blue, Pearl Peach, Powerful Pink and Citrus Orange.

The Matte series also comes with a new 3D logo on the side, daytime running light (DRL), under-seat storage light, dual tone seat and silver oak coloured interior panels. Meanwhile, features like USB charging port and front storage compartment have been carried forward from the regular model.

No mechanical changes have been made to the Scooty Zest Matte series. It continues to be powered by a 110 cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 8 BHP @ 7,500 rpm and 8.7 Nm @ 5,500 rpm of torque, while being mated to a CVT gearbox. TVS claims a fuel economy figure of 62 km/l for the Zest 110.

Slightly OT, slightly related.

While reading this news, the first thought that came to my mind is 'if a scooter can have it, why not cars?'. There are enough car lovers who would love a matte finish on their rides and who better than the factory to provide it! Imagine how sweet it would look on cars like the Swift, Polo, Figo Sports etc. Would beat those after-market wraps hands down .

TVS has been giving the matt finish from 2007 onwards if I recollect correctly.

Car makers too can provide this by way of charging a little more or launching it as special editions. Such paint schemes are not even on the radar of these companies.
