Re: List of discounts on BS-III Motorbikes & Scooters in your city

The biggest irony is that because of this frenzy of BS3 2-wheeler sales, the manufacturers who actually followed the court's order will notice a big drop in sales in the next few months.

Was at KTM Whitefield to check the new Duke 390, they are offering BS3 Rc390 for 2.25 all inclusive, you will be second owner though.

Re: List of discounts on BS-III Motorbikes & Scooters in your city

One of my friend had booked a Mahindra Gusto online on Mahindra's official website at ex-showroom price of 32,600 which was a good bargain IMO considering the gear less scooters from all the popular stables were sold out by the time he decided to act. He had paid the full amount online and was expecting a dealer call anytime for further instructions on registration and other formalities but instead he got the following email today morning.

"Dear Sir / Mam,

We regret to inform that due to unavailability of stock at dealership we are unable to process your Two Wheeler order.
Your order has been cancelled in the system & refund has been processed.
You shall receive the refunded amount in next 10 working days.
Regret the inconvenience caused.

Team M2ALL"

Considering even Mahindra went out of stock, this was indeed a noteworthy fire-sale nevertheless.

For me biggest irony is, Court is banning a product for a better tomorrow and for the health of citizens and the citizen are queuing up to buy the product.

PS: Expect a similar discount when we approach cut over day of "ABS/Airbag mandatory"

What's your take on the car pollution with only a single person in the car?

Agreed that whatever happened was crazy but atleast it ended forever. Even if people didn't buy it then, the dealer would have got it registered in his own name and sold it as second hand sale.

How's the road tax being computed for the discounted vehicles ? As a percentage of the discounted price or as a percentage of the original price ?

Re: List of discounts on BS-III Motorbikes & Scooters in your city

As per this link , 800,000 Two-Wheelers were sold in 2 days. This is around 60% of the typical monthly sales.

Since the average monthly 2-wheeler sales are in the 1.3-1.5 million units range, expecting sales for March to cross 2 million units comfortably. Will also be very interesting to see what the April Sales will look like. If April numbers don't drop too much this bumper sale would be a huge windfall for the major 2-Wheeler Manufacturers.

Latest news: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...w/57991415.cms

Automakers are footing 70% of the 600Crore discounts.
Rest of the 30% to be footed by dealers.

Re: List of discounts on BS-III Motorbikes & Scooters in your city

Don't wish to offend anyone, but BS3 motorcycle would any day be more eco friendly than our diesel daily, let's not hate people since we did not have the urge to buy a two wheeler during this discount.

It would have been an bigger environmental disaster if they all remained unsold and had to be scraped, and no I don't thing a bike that has exited the production line can be modified by the maker to meet new norms. Take a chill pill guys.

This is always calculated on the original price, to prevent any malpractices.

We are forgetting that the huge sales achieved was because of massive discounts to the tune of more than 600 Crore.
The manufacturers who achieved the huge sales in past 3 days, have paid a big price to get rid of the BS3 stocks.

Autocar reports that Mahindra has 18000 unsold BS3 vehicles including 2 wheelers

Excerpts

"The company and industry has incurred a loss because of the heavily discounted sale that it had to do on March 30 and 31, 2017. The company may be able to export some of these vehicles which will not incur much of a cost; and convert some of these vehicles to BS-IV, which will have a cost of as little as Rs 3,000-4,000 [on each] for some of the small commercial vehicles to as much as Rs 200,000 [on each] for heavy commercial vehicles”

Re: List of discounts on BS-III Motorbikes & Scooters in your city

I was getting a deal on a BS3 Duke 390 from the Bathinda KTM store on March 31. Bike+insurance = 1.41 lakhs. Registration would have cost me 8k. So that's a total of 1.5 on road.

I let the deal go, though. It was January 2016 made unit, before the slipper clutch and other improvements. Even though I didn't need a slipper clutch, I was concerned about losing out on any mechanical improvements that would impact longevity. Besides, even if the bike was not abused or anything like that, what rubber parts would have hardened because of disuse would be unknown. Also, the Duke 390 is not a market dud. Why did they not sell that bike over the 1.25 years since its manufacture? Too many question marks.
