TVS Wego is now BS-IV compliant, gets 2 new colours

TVS Motor Company has launched the updated Wego gearless scooter in India, which now comes with a BS-IV compliant engine and two new colour options. The 2017 TVS Wego is priced at Rs. 50,434 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Wego continues to be powered by a 109.7 cc, single-cylinder engine that develops 8 BHP and 8 Nm of torque, while being mated to a V-matic gearbox. However, this engine is now compliant with BS-IV emission norms, which will soon become mandatory for all two wheelers on sale in the country.

The updated TVS Wego also gets a USB charging port, a dual tone seat cover and silver oak panels. It features a digital speedometer and a sync braking system, which divides the required braking power to both wheels, even if only one brake lever is pressed. The new colour options available are Metallic Orange and T-Grey.

Is it the same old 110cc carburetted engine? If yes, any idea what tech they've used to achieve BS4 compliance? From performance figures, it looks like the same old engine.

Most manufacturers are able to keep the power and torque numbers the same but still make the bike BS4 compliant. In case of the pulsars including the P220 and 200NS there is no change in the performance figures. In one of the videos on youtube, it was stated that there is a secondary air intake or something on those lines which was not there earlier on the Pulsars at least. You can search for the Video by motovore and see the extra part put in to make the Pulsar compliant with BS4 norms.

No AHO? Isn't that also mandatory on all two wheelers now?

I assume you mean 'Automatic Headlamp On'. That will be mandatory starting from April 2017. Not sure how TVS, or for that matter other OEMS, are positioned for this regulation right now.
