Bajaj Avenger is now BS-IV compliant

With the BS-IV emission norms expected to be introduced soon in the Indian motorcycle industry, various automakers are making their bikes meet the regulations in a phased manner. Bajaj too has joined this group by updating its Avenger bike range, which is now BS-IV compliant. No other cosmetic changes have been made to the updated bikes.

The Bajaj Avenger range got a cosmetic update last year. It is currently available in three variants - Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220. The Street 150 is powered by a 149 cc engine putting out 14 BHP and 12.5 Nm of torque. The bigger Street 220 and Cruise 220 use a 220 cc motor that develops 18 BHP and 17.5 Nm of torque. All variants come with a 5-speed gearbox.

While Bajaj hasn’t yet announced prices of the BS-IV compliant Avenger series, a marginal price hike is expected throughout the range.

Funny. Honda Hornet which was launched sometime back is a BS-4 compliant Bike. How is Bajaj making such a claim?

re: Bajaj Avenger is now BS-IV compliant

I remember seeing the old 1st gen DTSi Pulsar twins in print ads. Those ads claimed that the Pulsars were Euro 5 compliant (back in 2004). Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
But if I am right then is there a huge difference between the emission standards followed by Euro 5 and BS-IV?

You probably saw Euro 3 as Euro 4 & 5 came out after 2004. Either ways, I'm sure the ad deceivingly said 'Euro xxx ready' (not compliant). 'Ready' means they can do it with bolt-on / ready changes when the legislation comes.
