Benelli Tornado 302 spotted testing. EDIT: Now launched @ 3.48 lakhs

A set of spy shots of the Benelli Tornado 302 has been leaked on the internet. According to the source of these images, the heavily camouflaged bike was spotted testing near Pune. The Tornado 302 is expected to launch in India later this year.

The Benelli Tornado 302 made its world debut at the 2015 EICMA in Milan. The bike was also showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. It is essentially a fully-faired version of the TNT300, which is already on sale in India. As a result, the Tornado 302 shares various components with its naked sibling, including the trellis frame, the suspension setup, and the braking system. It is even powered by the same 300 cc, liquid cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, DOHC, twin-cylinder engine, which has been tweaked to produce 34 BHP and 27 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The suspension system includes 41 mm inverted telescopic forks with 120 mm travel at the front, while a monoshock with 45 mm travel is attached to the rear. Braking duties are handled by 260 mm twin disc brakes at the front and a 240 mm single disc brake at the rear. The bike will also be equipped with ABS, though it is still not clear whether it will be offered as standard, or as part of an optional safety pack.

Once launched, the Benelli Tornado 302 will compete against the likes of the Yamaha R3 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.

Looks beefy, exactly what I have been looking for! Power figures look ordinary when compared to the N300/R3 and the likes.

Hope it's priced well.

Now that's a functional pillion seat and nice rear end. If only Benelli would open more centers in Mumbai instead of the one in far-flung Thane, it would be a headache-free bike. Despite the short service intervals.

Although the bike looks really fabulous proposition competing with the likes of CBR, R3, Rc390 etc but:

The riding position seems a bit awkward. The footpegs are placed not so sporty with a very sporty handlebar position.

Wouldn't that press the riders stomach more on longish rides ?

I remember seeing a Benelli showroom on the Wester Express Highway near Andheri. It was right adjacent to the Indian Bikes showroom. I also remember seeing their service centre in MIDC Andheri (E). You can check the bikes there.

Not sure of the price, but if it sounds anything like the naked 300, that's a killer proposition. None of the others sound anywhere close to the near i4 soundtrack of the Benelli.

Yes, I think that shut down. Which is exactly why I'm so apprehensive of putting my money on those bikes. What if they shut shop tomorrow and DSK decides to go with some other brand?

How do people who are stuck with the likes of, say, Kinetic Blaze etc., get their services done? Same may happen if buy a Benelli.

The bike in first post seems to have double discs upfront but the specification says it has a single disc.

All TNT 300's are equipped with dual disks in the front by the manufacturer. TNT 25 has single disc, but you have option of adding another disk at dealership level without voiding warranty.

re: Benelli Tornado 302 spotted testing. EDIT: Now launched @ 3.48 lakhs

Here is a Facebook post from Sirish Chandran's page dating back to September 5. This is what it says:
Quote:
Last year we rode 3 @dskbenelliindia bikes from Nagpur to 3 coastal corners of India. This yr we go one better with #302onGQuad. Team #evoIndia is going to undertake final endurance tests & sign off on upcoming #Benelli302R & as a benchmark we will also have the #TnT302. Bikes have been flagged by DSK Benelli India boss Shirish Kulkarni from DSK Benelli PUNE showroom - they'll be back after 6000km & 10 days. Follow them on #302onGQuad
Here's a picture from the same very post of the BN302:
Benelli Tornado 302 spotted testing. EDIT: Now launched @ 3.48 lakhs-benelli302.jpg

The caption of the picture says:
Quote:
#Benelli302R set to be launched in a months time. We undertake its final endurance test and validation sign off on the Golden Quadrilateral. No mercy will be shown!
Correct me if I am wrong connecting the dots here please.

re: Benelli Tornado 302 spotted testing. EDIT: Now launched @ 3.48 lakhs

Indeed great looking bike and this bike will also will have awesome symphony of 4 cylinder even though this is twin cylinder. Benelli 302 is already going in good numbers and i am sure this will also sell and finally DSK will bring something good to Indian market. I am personally waiting for TRK 502.
The only problem i found in Benelli ownership is service interval. The bike has service interval of 6000kms and on an average servicing cost comes around 5000 INR. 6000kms is really less as Triumph and Kawasaki has service interval of 10000kms for entry level bikes.
