Tyres are also a culprit. I reduce the air pressure a little, and it becomes slightly comfortable.
Honda have fixed this in their new sibling to Navi..i.e in Cliq.

I did check one of the reviews for Cliq and the stiff suspension still continues, they have changed the tyres to Block tyres which gives it additional grip, apart from that i don't see any other major differences in the ride quality.

Suspension has been improved and Cliq comes with both Front and Rear tyres in same size - 90/100-10" + Block tyres and with correct air pressure, Cliq can give a beautiful ride, which Im currently enjoying.

Re: My Honda Navi: Navi Times Roll

Adventure Kit for Navi
Finally after nearly 2 years of wait from purchase date, my Navi was fitted with Adventure Kit, which includes :
- High Rise Tinted Windscreen
- Hand Guards
- Floor Guard Rail
- Utility Box
- Rear Luggage Box Tray (which can hold up to 3kgs)
Officially Luggage Box and Under body Tray were supposed to be supplied, as a part of the Adventure kit..but I had to be happy with what I got after 2 years and incessant complaints to Honda Customer Care..
How it all fits on to Navi

Luggage Box Tray wth 3kg limit

I may add a luggage box just to beef it up, but strictly its not needed as the luggage box beneath the petrol tank is quite large to carry a medium size helmet as well as some utilities.
Ride Safe.

Back Breaking is how I would rate the ride quality of the Navi, especially if one is used to riding motorcycles.

An easy hack for the harsh ride quality for the Navi seems to be fixing the rear suspension of the TVS Jupiter. There are YouTube videos for the fix and seems to improve the harsh ride (works on the Activa as well) and would cost around Rs. 1,000.

A Video of the Suspension swap an the Activa. Should also be possible on the Navi

Re: My Honda Navi: Navi Times Roll

Replaced the stock bulb with LED. But faced a strange problem, the light was flickering and the output used to drop when accelerated (opposite of what u expected).

Today, modified the connection with just a few cm of wire. Now the headlight is running directly on battery, no flicker and more light.

Has to wait and see the effects.

Image 1. Green mark: cable from ignition key. The battery connection is tapped from here.

Image 2: the connector going to the headlight switch. After some trial and error, found that the yellow cable is the correct one. Cut it and connected it to cable from ignition.

Thumb Rule 1: LED's don't run well on AC current, give it some time and they burn-out, ideally you're expected to use a diode if intending to connect to AC current.

Thumb Rule 2: Never cut/splice wiring, always stick to Wire/Fuse Taps.

Wire Tap:

Cheers and Ride Safe,

Cutting any wires means your warranty is no longer valid, right? Hopefully it's only the battery warranty that gets void and not the entire vehicle's. Is this something you took into account or checked with Honda about before carrying out the mods?

Can you please share the wire after you used the fuse tap?

Re: My Honda Navi: Navi Times Roll

I have a 2 year old Navi.

I find the front to be ABNORMALLY light. Specially when speeds are below 20 KMPH/Crawling Speeds.

My Navi simply refuses to remain in a straight line at Crawing Speeds. The bike behaves similar to a Drunk Man at < 20 KMPH.

I have ridden scooters before and never noticed this issue in them. It's so bad at crawling speeds that I feel nervous to ride it in slow traffic.

I have put dead weight of around 5 Kgs in the Front Compartment Box and that seems to solve the issue a lot.

I am of the Opinion that the 12 inch front wheel of the Navi could be the culprit. The engineers that designed the Navi probably did not calibrate the load at the front when the took the frame of the Dio / Activa and just installed a 12 inch wheel to it (Dio / Activa is fitted with a 10 inch front).

Am thinking of replacing the front to a 10 inch wheel soon to solve the slow speed manners.

Re: My Honda Navi: Navi Times Roll

Hi,

I too ride a navi in Bangalore which has covered 19,000 km in last 2+ years. I never felt this, may be because I sit little close to the petrol tank. The only change I have made is replacing the rear shocks with that of Jupiter which has increased the rear height by close to an inch.
Hope this helps.

I was thinking of either increasing the front wheel size or raising the shocks by few inches. After reading your experience, I may drop the idea altogether as I do not want to spoil the fun feeling of using Navi.
Between, even now it turns eyes towards the bike. Today only a tempo driver and his mate asked me about the bike, how much I paid etc.

cheers,
girish

Increasing the rear probably should transfer some weight to the front.

1. How much has the ride quality improved by the rear suspension swap? the Stock ones on the Navi is ROCK HARD and uncomfortable.

2. When did you swap the rear suspension of the Jupiter on your 2 year old Navi?

Re: My Honda Navi: Navi Times Roll

3rd Service Update : 1000kms
Our Navi reached 3+ years of ownership with almost 1000 kms on odometer.
Service was smooth at Orange Honda, which included oil changes,Air Filter and Plug Cleaning...A thorough wash was given as a post monsoon bath !!!!
Since 3 years were completedand free servicing ended, I opted for an AMC costing 765/- which entitles 3 free Services + 3 Washes and discount on parts.
