MV Agusta India launch on May 11, 2016

According to media reports, MV Agusta is set to launch its motorcycles in India on May 11, 2016. The launch will take place at Pune. The sales and services of the MV Agusta bikes will be taken care of by Motoroyale - a dealership network set up by the Kinetic Group.

The MV Agusta bikes dealership will be a different unit and not a part of Kinetic Engineering. The company plans to begin operations in Pune, Mumbai, Surat, Bangalore and Delhi.

MV Agusta will become the seventh European motorcycle brand to come to India after Triumph Motorcycles, Ducati, BMW Motorrad, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Benelli.

Currently the MV Agusta model line-up available in India as direct imports include F3 800, F3 800 RC, F4, F4 RR, F4 RC and Brutale 1090. Some of the models that expected to be launched in India in the future include the Stradale 800, F3 675, Rivale 800 and Turismo Veloce 800.

But didn't MV Agusta file for bankruptcy recently?

Mercedes AMG having a 25% stake in the company helps I guess!

Rumour: MV Agusta India launch on May 11, 2016

Got a call yesterday and was told that MV is opening shop @ Lavelle Road, Bangalore. Opening is sometime next month and I was asked if I'd be interested in getting the first F3 800 in Bangalore!

Question to bikers: What is the USP for MV Agusta? Why would someone buy from this brand in what is becoming a crowded market-place?

Chapter 11 bankruptcy is a way for companies to clean up their balance sheet. Doesn't mean they're shutting down. E.g. General Motors which claimed bankruptcy in 2009.

Designed by the 'Michelangelo of motorcycle design', the late Massimo Tamburini!
Such that MV bikes stand out even to this day.
Other highlight is the glorious racing heritage associated with the legend Agostini.

Simply put it - MV Agusta makes one of the or should I say the most beautiful bikes in the world. They are the Pininfarina equivalent of Motorcycles. As Mateen mentioned above, it was designed by Massimo Tamburini - an Italian designer - and also the creator of the iconic Bimota Tesi.

For me the USP of the MV Agusta is its beauty. As their tagline goes - Passion. Precisely Crafted.

I believe Massimo Tamburini also designed the Ducati 916.

Cannot agree with you more on the looks of MV bikes. People might recall the small roles these bikes had in the 2 movies i robot and Dark Knight. The first time i saw those four tailpipes in an article in Auto India, i was smitten.

The original MV Agusta F4 and the original Brutale were designed by Massimo Tamburini.

The existing range has been designed by Adrian Morton, who also designed the Benelli Tornado and the TNT 899/1130. Adrian Morton took over as the head of design after Tamburini left MV Agusta.

While the designer of current models has eventually changed, the overall design 'skeleton' is still unmistakably Tamburini, similar to the situation which Ducati had after 916 wherein subsequent models were mere facelifts instead of brand new designs.

After looking at the price point my only reasonable answer is, when you have that much money to spend on a bike, you dont need a reason to justify. Its purely one of the choices you want to try while you know anyday you can buy an R1.

Personally put - overpriced and that F4RR is priced so high that the new R1 looks like a steal and that R1 is just stunning piece of engineering.
