Honda launches refreshed Dio at Rs. 48,264

Honda has sold 10 lakh units of the Dio in India. To celebrate this milestone, the company has given the scooter a style update.

For 2016, the Dio gets a new Matte Axis Grey colour and a 3D emblem. The scooter is also available in four existing colours - Jazzy Blue Metallic, Candy Palm Green, Sports Red and Black.

There are no mechanical changes to the Dio. It uses the same 109.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled petrol engine as before. This unit develops 8 BHP @ 7,000 rpm and 8.77 Nm of torque @ 5,500 rpm and is mated to a continuously variant transmission.

The Dio is also Honda's No.1 export model. It is shipped to countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

The Honda Dio is priced at Rs. 48,264 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Nice to know that the Dio has been refreshed, however not sure if we can call it a refresh at all with such minor changes. They did launch the current Dio with a brand new look some time back though.

IMO Dio is still one of the most stylish scooters around and feels very young at heart that the boring Activas and Accesses.

It would have been good if they offered the 125cc motor as an variant in the Dio which would add more zip to a very competent bike.

Absolutely agree on this part.

The scooter companies should now be looking at different engine options on their scooters. Like the Dio for example is not for the masses which the Activa is. Hence they should offer different engine variants too.

And while we are at it, along with the engine, they should first get rid of that age old suspension in the front and start providing telescopic suspension on all their models!! Whatever sporty and fun the Dio might be, ride it for over 15-20kms in thick traffic and you will start experiencing fatigue in your shoulders. No such issues with the scooters with telescopic forks. So whatever little comfort it might add, it is definitely noticeable. Time for honda to wake up and update the product line. It is also not as if they dont have it in house. Already the Aviator & Activa DLX come with telescopic forks up front.

The update does not qualify in any sense for just a new color and 3D emblem!!

Re: Honda launches refreshed Dio at Rs. 48,264

When the Activa and Dio twins first came out, I fell in love with the Dio but in today's crowd it no longer stands as a sporty scooter it's just a scooter with fiber panels that's it. The balance isn't so sporty, the suspension is old and nothing compared to modern telescopic units, the cvt is a bit long in the tooth as well. Time for a new Dio. Something like a more powerful version of the Yamaha Ray would be apt IMO.
