Next year seems like an evolution of the Indian motorcycle market. From faster 150cc motorcycles to an array of 250+cc launches. I am dearly confused between the BMW G310R and the new KTM 390. Although the latter offers a whole lot features, it's predecessor was hideously uncomfortable for daily commuting or occasional touring. Will be test riding both of them before I take a call. Until then, it's all about saving to get a new ride.

True dat. But I think I'm now done with single pot bikes. Will save for a twin/triple/4-cylinder bike. Current options are slated to get outdated soon. Eyeing the MT03 if it gets ABS. Otherwise will wait for 2017 N650.

LED headlamps looks alien. I heard that the new Duke has seen a price hike of Rs.7000-8000 as per the insiders. With the long list of upgraded features on comparing with older version, the price hike seems nominal.

Highly unlikely that it will be built from scratch. It would be an iteration over the existing engine with improvements. Some maybe critical updates and will not possible to port it back to the existing engine without significant investments.

Thanks praful. I was thinking the same. There could be slight bump in the power due to side mounted exhaust system.

Also, I was going through KTM official webpage, seems like they have already updated their website with the 2017 RC 390. I think they are going to launch the RC series alongside 2017 dukes at their Nov-8 event. fingers crossed

2016 D390 is already a brilliant package. now with the new tech upgrades, it is going to again rewrite the history of Indian automobile scene. New version launch is confirmed for India as well??

Aesthetically I like the current model. New version is truly an alien faced one.
I would pray for below revisions

1. Better or I should say smoother suspension. It should be forgiving on a bad road.
2. Softer seats
3. Heat reduction

If these are addressed, It will join my garage for sure.

on a other hand, if they reduce the BHP/Torque figures (Touch wood). 2016 model is going to be the same story as RD 350 HT in terms of resale value.

The bump in power is unlikely and may minuscule, it will mitigated by the increase in weight. So overall, I think the performance numbers may remain more or less the same. Considering the stringent Euro IV compliance requirements, I won't be too surprised if the power took a slight dip even.

Let's please remember who we are talking about here. It's KTM!! It's the same guys who launched a duke 390 with a 43 bhp engine, taking them out of contention for the A2 licensed machine in Europe; and then had to reduce the power by a couple of bhp while still haveing the 43 bhp-er in the market.

Why? Because they could. They are Katoom. Let us all remember that!!

Does anybody know what happened to the 270 degree firing, twin cylinder, 800 cc all new naked bike KTM was going to showcase? The speculation as well as news just died on that one!

I asked this because the all LED headlight could maybe mean a bigger bike? Yes, I know that this headlight looks similar to the spied-to-death 2017 Duke 390, but that could be because they have all been taken from 1290 Adv - have a look at Shumi (Overdrive), the best motorcycle commentator in India by a country mile, talk about it:
