It almost felt like a toy after my bike nearly too easy to ride I want to know if there is any drastic difference between the 2016 RC390 and the older iterations.

If the throttle response and fueling is accurate even at low rpms, then would someone know if the throttle-by-wire system can be retrofitted on to my bike?
Hi IshaanIan, as far as I know, the MY2016 models do not come with throttle by wire. Fueling is still choppy but felt better than the 2015 bike I had ridden. I find minimal vibrations too but the gearbox slots well only at rpms above 7000 in the new bike. Didn't observe this in the 2015 bike.

Re: KTM launches MY2016 Duke 200, Duke 390, RC200 & RC390

I have been contact with a guywho is selling his RC 390.
Bike Details:
Mfg: Jan 2016
Purchase: Feb 2016
Kms driven: 5000
Asked price: 1,60,000

1) What things should I keep in mind when evaluating the bike? I will check service history & whether any insurance claim has been made.
2) Do MY 2016 upgrades would be present on a Jan 2016 manufactured RC 390?
3) What do you guys think about the deal? What offer should I make?

I don't think Jan 2016 model will have the slipper clutch or updated mirrors but those can be bought and installed at the service center. I think the slipper clutch costs 11k to install. 5k kms is pretty low so I feel his asking price is fair. If you want to bargain try 1.5 but it looks like a sweet deal either way.

Thank you very much for prompt reply.

The owner confirmed as well that it doesn't have a slipper clutch. The owner lives 30kms away from my place. I will inspect the bike tonight to get the first impressions & will try to close the deal on Saturday morning after inspecting the bike in daylight.

No problem. Even mine is a pre-facelift 2016 model that's how I know Normally I would recommend checking a whole bunch of things but honestly a year into ownership and several visits to the service center, have taught me that this bike is damn cheap to maintain. I think of it as the Austrian's gift to India. We get a track bike and because it is made here, parts are super cheap to replace also. Just make sure to replace oil every 3k kms as I do. If you regularly ride the bike hard like it begs you to, the 7.5k company recommended service interval just doesn't cut it.

Bhavik,

Check with your local dealer if they have any BSIII models. You could get a new bike with zero mileage, slipper clutch, new fan design, etc etc at that price. It will still be a 2nd hand bike since the bike will be registered in the dealers name. Try your luck.

RC 390 was updated in the very beginning of 2017 there are no 2017 manufactured BSIII RC 390s. BSIV RC models were launched in late Jan this year and it has already been more than a quarter since. The only BSIII KTMs you'll find are Duke 390s

Correct. they might not be 2017 manufactured.

The KTM dealer at Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore have BSIII RC390 available with them when I spoke to them last Saturday.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I inquired about BSIII models on 30th & 31st March with Ahmedabad dealers. On 30th March eve, one dealer had Duke 200s and the other one had Duke 390s in stock. Both were out of stock by 31st March afternoon.

I called couple of days back to inquire about on paper 2nd owner for new BSIII bikes deal but they told me that they had already cleared their BSIII stock by 31st March.

The guy disappeared on the meeting day however he contacted me again yesterday evening. I called in sick at work (things we do for love ) & closed the deal today with some additional discounts.

I am feeling elated at the moment after riding her for approx 70kms. The icing on the cake is, it does have sleeper clutch. Will post more details & pictures probably this weekend.
