They are unveiling their Dakar Challanger, RTR450. Saw it on the FB timeline of an Autojourno.

Leaked pictures from a brochure show the TVS Akula 310 in two colours; red & blue.

The biggest reveal comes in the form of confirmation of the two colours – red and blue. Interestingly, the trellis frame appears to be colour-matched to the bodywork, a first for a motorcycle at this price point. The motorcycle will also get a subtle RR 310 decal along with the Apache branding in its trademark font on the fairing. Both the red and blue bikes appear to be devoid of any excessive graphics, which will appeal to many buyers.

I hope they had stuck to just one colour for the frame - maybe something like red. Would provide a really good contrast on the other colours like black or blue or silver for instance.

The bike looks hugely impressive, and makes me want to sell off my aging Apache 160 & CBR250R and apply for a bank loan to get this one.

Hopefully we are close to the launch now, this is one bike which has taken quite a bit to launch. I have a feeling they will do a soft launch in 2017 with bikes being available from 2018 onwards.

Brochure scans of the upcoming TVS Akula 310 have leaked. The leaked images indicate that the production-spec bike might be called TVS Apache RR 310S instead. Earlier this year, the same name was revealed though a trademark document.



TVS first showcased the bike in concept form at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Since then, test mules of the bike have been spotted on many occasions. However, there has been no word about its launch date yet.



The TVS Apache RR 310S has spawned out of the partnership between TVS Motors and BMW Motorrad. The fully-faired bike is expected to be offered with twin-headlamps with LED DRLs, a digital instrument panel, upside-down front forks and a monoshock rear suspension.



The bike will employ the same 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the BMW G 310R. On the BMW, this engine produces 33.5 BHP @ 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque @ 7,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. TVS is likely to offer the engine in a different state of tune. Besides the engine, the TVS Apache RR 310S will come equipped with disc brakes at both ends and it might be offered with ABS as well.

Finally some solid rumour/news, it was high time coming. I am guessing they will just showcase the bike and open bookings with no information provided on pricing or actual launch. Maybe reserved for Auto Expo 2018, would be a full circle.

Getting news that the production would be limited for the coming months as TVS doesn't want a Himalayan at their hands, they want the vehicle to be as niggle free as possible from the start and slowly want to scale up. Another issue could also be the limited production capacity of the engines.

I hope they don't pull an Apache RTR 200 Fi4V on us, soft launched in Dec 2017, with actual launch in Dec 2018

In all probability they will not do that, TVS are very serious about the segment and for their partnership with BMW to bear fruit this motercycle will be an important milestone.

A little birdie tells me the next project on the works is a medium capacity twin expected to be unveiled in 2019.

Went to Ramkay TVS @ Adyar today to enquire about the Akula. They have no details including the launch date. They are neither taking bookings as of now. I left my contact number as they requested and noticed there is another gentleman who had the same enquiry today just before me.

PS:: There was a RTR 200 Matte Grey on display and it look H-A-W-T!!

Is this even viable in 2019-2020's? I mean the world is moving towards electric, even our Govt. has set a deadline of 2030.
