Re: RMLC - My Tricolor Honda CBR250R ABS

H

I'm surprised and genuinely sorry for your ordeal as far as the quality of components is concerned. Maybe it has something to do with QC of the components of the later CBRs - the components being produced in India instead of being imported from Japan / Thailand? These niggles are small damperners in what otherwise could have been a stellar ownership experience.

The CBR is a capable tourer and the handlebar mod only adds to the comfort and touring ability. In fact I was thinking of possibly taking a ride on your bike if I ever headed to Gurgaon to check out the handlebar mod, though that hasn't happened as yet (and with Corona in place , doesn't seem likely in the immediate future).

The fact that Doc Arnob chose this bike and completed the fastest North South run on it back in the day (a record that was broken by another biker on yet another CBR) only reinforces its solid, reliable touring credentials. Maybe some concerted addressing of the issues by a competent mechanic will see the gremlins fading into the background and an you can enjoy long fuss free rides without having to have a constant worry of components failing in the back of your head.

All the same , I think you ought to give it some more time and preventive / rectifying maintenance and enjoy some more rides.

All the best.

Cheers !

I'm speechless at your ordeal; mine at 133xxx is still intact; the only thing that is pending from my side is to change the chain tensioner (third time) which I think is absolutely great. Regarding the rust, ideally I should be the one to be posting as we're close to sea with more prone to rust, but something probably in cosmic is working in DL instead of TN now!!

The left switch gear - mine was not the switch, just the pass light, I think I can live with it.

Other than the tensioner (normal wear & tear) & the pass light switch mine is still holding together for now.

Mine is owned from Jun 2011 & the only rusty place is the exhaust & that was since the Sep 2012 days; very surprising how it's still holding for last these many years

Hehe sir - not using it enough (11k reached only now, after 5 years). If I was more active - SURELY!

I fully agree about the bike being a lovely tourer!
Whether I am being a gambler doubling down on a bad bet, or finally getting isues solved - I am ambivalent. btw the bike goes to Honda only for warranty purposes. It gets real TLC by two very impeccable sources - whether the solo Jitu paaji or Fatboy customs in Gurgaon.

As for TR - Corona has no relevance. Come anytime chief. I will sanitize the bike and its key - step back and let it sit for 2 min. You go take it for a ride. I won't step into an AC room unmasked with even my mom - but bike TRs? anyday!

Exactly sir - you've ridden it well and hard. That's the exact ownership report I wished to pen!
