Honda have unveiled their lightweight supersport bike CBR250RR concept at 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

The mean looking concept is finished in matte black color theme with cabon fibre inserts throughout and this accentuates its myriad of sharp surfaces. The angry looking front fascia houses blue illuminated LED slits in place of headlamps – something that would be watered down on the production model. The massive full fairing completely covers up the mechanicals save for a part of crankcase.

Total droolworthy bike. Looks like it will have a parallel twin engine. For Europe, North America, India etc., the engine will probably have a capacity of over 300cc to compete with Ninja 300, R3 and KTM RC 390. A recent scoop by a reliable magazine showed a rendering of a 'CBR350RR'. So the capacity may be 350cc for our market.
Even though it won't be a patch on the 80s screamer with the same name, it will be a much needed addition of excitement to the low capacity segment. Supersport fans will love this :)

How I wish it was anything close to that inline-4 scorcher.
Never the less, its hightime HONDA comes up with an offering to rival kawasaki (N300) and Yamaha(R3) in the parallel twin entry-level sportsbike segment(CBR250R is more of a puny VFR rather than CBR). Here's wishing it will be atleast half as fun the original 250RR was.

Ha ha. That bike is a legend.
I'm pretty sure, this bike will be a lot of fun too, esp. if it comes with a 350cc engine. If it is brought into India through CKD, we can easily expect the price to cross 5L on road considering the superior hardware on the bike (compared to R3/N300) and the Honda premium. Anyway, Honda finally seems to be doing justice to the 'CBR' name after the boring 250R/500R.

This concept has a design that is befitting of the name "baby blade". Definitely seeing a bit of NM4 in there. I can't wait to see what the production model will look like. A toned down design is expected, but the concept itself (while extreme) isn't too outlandish so the end result shouldn't be a let down.
While the modern tech bits on the concept make it all seem desirable, I'm kinda happy it wont be having the same engine configuration as the previous-gen RR; happy cuz my hunt for the old one won't be in vain :D
Unless the price point is competetive, the 250 segment may get lonely with 390, 650 and other 600 cc segments opening up at competetive price point.
Even Ninja is struggling with 650 and 300 purely because of the 390.
To me the pricing is very critical for success in this segment.

Blade? Don't see any of the regular Honda design elements here. The colour, the seat design, the headlamp portion all scream Ninja H2 to my eyes.
May the production version will be more CBR than Kawasaki.

Honda's upcoming quarter-litre sports bike has been teased in a brief video, which indicates that the official launch isn't far away. The video also confirms that the new bike would be named as the CBR250RR.
The CBR250RR is based on Honda's Lightweight Supersports Concept, which was showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The released teaser video points towards the fact that Honda designers have managed to carry forward various design cues from the concept to the production bike.
The fuel tank gets a multi-surface layout and has been given a matte finish. Other details revealed in the video include clip-on handlebars, up-side down front forks, and a single front disc brake with an ABS unit. Specifications of the Honda CBR250RR haven’t yet been revealed, but the powertrain is expected to churn out a power output of around 40 BHP.
Once launched, the CBR250RR is expected to take on competitors like the Yamaha R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300.

Received the below image of the 2017 250 CBR RR for Indonesian markets.
And we are yet to get the refreshed CBR250 models !!
Sigh!! From a strategy perspective, Honda seems to going more for a numbers game. But they should also look at the a niche segment which will help push numbers further.
On a more 'on topic' note, it is a little sad to see Honda refresh the legend, replacing the I-4 with a parallel twin.
Finally Honda decides to introduce a quarter-liter CBR which is not derived from a VFR and from the looks of it, looks amazing. It would be interesting to see how they price it here in India, it would be great if they are able to price it between KTM RC390 and the Yamaha R3.

Which means a similar offering like the Ninja 250..
The single cylinder CBR250R was unsuccessful in taking away the Global market share from the Kawasaki 250 which incidentally is the leader in the 250/300 cc segment (
especially in Indonesia that is its largest market).
Therefore this second attempt by Honda with two cylinders. Pity Honda could have stood out with an inline - four engine.

Don't really think HMSI would be interested in fielding another low volume product.
