TVS Motor Company is celebrating the first anniversary of the Star City+ motorcycle and has announced the launch of a special edition of the bike called the Special Gold Edition 2015. The bike is priced at Rs. 48,934 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The variant in a white body colour with golden graphics, gold coloured mag wheels, gold coloured three dimensional brand logo, a 'Bike of the Year' endorsement and a gold coloured TVS logo on the visor, contrasting beige coloured side cover frame, a dual textured seat with red stitching and red coloured shock absorbers.
The motorcycle is also equipped with high grip tubeless tyres and a USB mobile charging provision under the seat.
There are no mechanical changes to the bike. It continues to use the same 109.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled petrol engine and 4-speed gearbox as the standard Star City+.
The motorcycle has a telescopic fork suspension at the front, five step adjustable shock absorbers at the rear and soft touch switch gear.
Wow. This just looks too tacky and "bling".
No novelty here. Should be in the wacky mod section in my honest opinion.
Festive season is upon us. We can expect such coloured abominations to grace the showrooms. Where I live, these get lapped up quickly but nothing wrong with the bike mechanically.
TVS's fill it, shut it and forget it bike.
I am looking for a two-wheeler,after checking Activa and Jupiter I dropped the idea of Automatic Scooter and zeroed on Bike.
Today I checked this Star City Plus, both models (Normal +Gold)
To my shock the prices quoted by showroom is way to high than shown on the TVS Website and other portals.
Dealer Quoted on Road price as
Rs. 56500/- (Star City, Non Gold Model)
Rs.58700/- (Star City Gold Edition )
Attached below the price shown on TVS Website is Rs.47874/-
So 5% Road tax + insurance and Rs.528 as accessories why are these
dealers charging this hefty premium on budget bikes.
Can someone shed some light on this issue as I badly need to buy a bike but seems every brand is allowing their dealers to take premium amount and offer bike on much higher rates than price shown on manufacturers website.
Is this another SCAM going on ?
Almost 20 days a no one replied in this thread.
Anyway after lot of market research I went to GS.TVS in ghaziabad on 1st nov.,
the sales guy manish was very polite and helpful, he arranged a Test Ride for Star City+,
got the bike in hands in few minutes, so here's the impressions:-
A nice Speedometer, you would love how it shows the demo as soon as you turn on the key.
Big Dial for Analog speedometer and easy to watch.
Digital ODO and Fuel Guage.
Press the Start button and bike started in 100 fraction of a second.
Started in congested area, but bike had all the horses needed to vroooom thru.
Gear shift was smooth, and didn't feel anything expert power till 4th gear.
Ride quality was Superb.
Tried pot holes, jumped off the road to bad footpath, took a few sharp turns nd it made me feel only one thing which is needed the most when you are on the Road, Confident.
Came back and within next 5 minutes paid Rs.20k as advance from the final price of Rs.56500 which was 57300 a few mins before test ride.
Took delivery on Dhanteras i.e 9th Nov-15
Surprisingly it came with Tubeless Tyres and I am loving the ride.
Haven't driven it much, its still at 40km only.
Will post a new thread soon with very detailed review and pics.
