There are a lot of buyers for these BMWs despite their high price..
1) Brand at play?
2) Initial hype?
What do you guys think of?

Could be cases of knowing exactly what one wants with the means to buy it. Though you would still find the one off misinformed buyer, I'm willing to bet the majority of buyers belong to the former group.

It is not costly, Kawasaki Versys 300 is over 100K costlier than this, really someone will pick Kawasaki against BMW? Let KTM launch their hyped 390 ADV bike I am sure it's going to be cheaper by 40-60K range not by 100K.
What I learnt is BMW is not keen on mass market and happy to sell their bikes in limited quantity, they are happy with number of bikes getting exported.

Re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

Some updates on the baby GS:
I had an old pair of mirror extenders which i had purchased for the versys, and a basic top box. Managed to fir these two on the bike. The mirror extenders help a loooot with the view, top box on an ADV tourer will have minor rattle when going over rough terrain. If one can live with that, its a very useful utility to have on a bike. Takes in a full faced helmet.
Been riding baby GS in rain almost everyday and some muddy trails. Baby GS is very confidence inspiring, must be the tyres and less weight. Rode to Kirshnagiri for breakfast yesterday and if one is not a speed maniac, the bike is fairly engaging on the highway as well. Does 100kmph in 6th gear at 6k rpm without any fuss and touring at 120 should not be stressing the engine at all. I did not push the bike much as the engine is new one, but have a feeling that it would be more peppy at higher revs in lower gears. once can easily manage to keep up with general traffic and overtaking a regular vehicle is easy too. There is a bit of wind blast and a taller screen would be helpful. Odo stands at about 350, need to finish 1k and get over with the first service.
fixed a 2" handlebar riser yesterday and the sitting posture is improved tremendously. The cable length (brake and clutch) is just a wee bit short for comfort, and would ideally require rerouting. Its ok even now, but for peace of mind will get it re-routed. Its a must have accessory in the baby GS, i feel. Some pics.

Re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

The BMW 310GS has been praised well in the New Zealand market for what is essentially a baby version of the 1200GS. The only complaint being the vibrations from the engine felt on the handle bar. There was a mention of the bike coming from India and the assembly by TVS.

The prime competitor for the GS in the New Zeeland market is the Royal Enfied Himalayan (Well received) and Honda CRF250 Rally. The former is $1000 cheaper than the BMW. A strong case for considering the BMW unlike our market where the pricing is poles apart.

Rox wow, I felt they are costly for baby gs, but they provide nice handle height no doubt, I am considering something from aliexpress.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2PCS...17952e0er5iQsS

Have a look at Aliexpress they got very nice and tall windshield with BMW logo at the centre and metal rod supports on both the sides apart from 4 bolts on the bike.

I know! Had to really convince myself to spend 8k, main reason being i am so used to an upright posture, (versys has 1.5" riser) that the stock handle bar position on baby GS felt odd. Was torn between aliexpress and rox but settles for rox mainly cos Aliexpress would take much time, i was not sure if 2" riser would fit with stock cables. Could not find any info on net on 2" riser on a baby GS. people have tried 1" and 40mm but could not come across anyone using 2". Here i had option of going to shaun and trying the risers out before purchasing them. They seem to just about fit and i am riding with them for last 4 days, but would explore possibility of re-routing cables.

have also picked a center stand, yet to get it installed. Hopefully this weekend. Center stand is must for chain maintenance, washing, fixing rear puncture, or even parking the bike. we have had some bad publicity on the side stand recall anyways, better to fix and use a center stand. will share how the fitment goes.

I think can try and order the radiator guard and windshield from Aliexpress.

Why don't you look into the paddock stands or the single sided stands or the paddock stand replacements.

Might save you from adding some weight to the bike since its only for the maintenance and stuff.

Also eagerly awaiting your ownership thread, delivery experience, choice making process etc stuff in your thread sir.

I have an adjustable paddock which can raise baby GS. I also have a local version of "snap jack". But going by last of couple of years experience of having the versys without center stand, and also watching closely my friends who have versys with center stand (redliner here on team bhp is one of them, would request to share his experience as well), there is nothing that comes closer to having the convenience of a center stand. One of the critical and must-have accessory on the bike in my opinion, and worth every pound esp if once is a bit DYI oriented.

For starting ownership thread, not sure if i would be able to do justice to it. Am sure we will one have soon and would try and contribute whatever i can to that thread.

Congratulations on the Baby GS! Any indications on the service costs, procedure, also does the bike have a Service reminder on the console?

ON the service cost, no idea as am still 500kms away from the first service. Will share the details once i get it done. And yes, the console has a service reminder. Its the first thing that shows on the screen when u insert the key and turn on the ignition.

Please do nasirkaka.

I doubt anyone else has taken delivery, and I very highly doubt if there's any official review plans in the pipeline as well.

Thanks for the link. The precise problem here is that companies such as these make use of the situation to fleece customers, rather then price their products wisely. These guys are charging 20k for engine guard and tank guard. which is not very far from hepco, motech or wunderlich pricing. The cost advantage is lost, and am sure they cant match the quality and precision provided by these international brands. Riding on the BMW brand-wagon.. :(
