Got the bike in first lot from Tusker BMW Bangalore, day before. 25 bikes were delivered together with a small event with some AV presentation, snacks, cake cutting and some encouraging words. post delivery there was a small group ride around cubbon park lead by "Father GS" the mighty 1200.
Have clocked a little over 100 kms and sharing my initial impressions. Yes, sofar i am happy with the bike as its very much inline with my expectations and requirements.
The bike urges you to go off the shoulder of the road, into the rough, even if there is clean space on tarmac. That sums it up i guess

19inch front makes a big difference in attacking speed breakers, potholes. 180mm travel on front and rear with generous ground clearance is confidence inspiring. Ride quality is fairly decent over the rough patches and off the road. Why "fairly decent" is cos i got a change to ride the father gs 1200 for close to 400kms a while back and that is the bike i am bench-marking against. So baby GS fares fairly well off the road, thanks to combination of suspension travel, metz tourance, and GC.
On road the bike feels tall and slightly disconnected, could be the 19" front, the tyre pattern, or the seat height. All this in comparison to versys which is the only bike i have been riding since last 6 months. The seat feels uncomfortable after 45mins, there is not much space to move around. May require some level of customization. Handlebar position is such that the rider has to slightly lean in. I will definitely need a 2" riser as am used to much more upright posture. Rear view mirrors are useless and show almost nothing. With bar risers and mirror extenders, should be ok i am hoping. Horn, as expected is very weak, will require immediate upgrade.
One issue which i faced while riding back from showroom was stalling. If one is not very careful with throttle and clutch input, the bike stalls. margin of error is very less, unlike the versys which had never stalled on me AFAIR. This stalling issue was faced by many others while we were doing a group ride around cubbon park, so not isolated case. last two days, i am mentally cautious to prevent stalling and has worked so far.
overall fit and finish feels good and bike feels well made and solid EXCEPT i dont know what the engineers were smoking when they approved the head light assembly design. The entire assembly shakes madly as if held by rubber band, and creates strobe effect. Very very annoying. All the bike had some amount of shake, some more some less. Mine is on the higher side. Not just me, a lot of international forums have also complained about this issue.
Power: coming from versys, ofcourse the bike feels under-powered, but its adequate to keep one engaged. Starting days, so yet to push the bike, but power was never my main requirement and i am more then happy with what the bike offers. linear and one can easily ride at lower speeds in 2nd and 3rd gear, and need to shift 1st only below 15kmph. Have heard a lot of people complaining on vibrations, but did not find anything alarming. A 300plus cc single pot will induce some vibes and this one is within acceptable limits. True, i haven't really pushed the bike hard to higher rpms, let wait and see how it behaves then. So far, no complains on vibrations. I did not like how the bike starts. its not crisp/sharp. In summary, looks like a very good prospect for Indian riding conditions, be it city or even touring. If the price was bit more accessible, these bikes would fly off the shelf.
Will add more as the kms pile on. Sharing some phone cam pics.
PS. Forgot to add that the light weight of the bike makes so much of a positive difference, esp if one is coming from riding a heavier bike. a BIG plus there.
