Re: TVS launches XL Super 1 Crore Special Edition Here is my memories of TVS 50 XL.
When I joined BSc, I asked my dad to buy me a Suzuki Shogun. Dad took me to the Lotus TVS, one of Erode's TVS dealer. I was totally in the air, smiling wide that I am getting a shogun.
But what happened later was a total disaster. We crossed the bike section, and then stopped at the Moped section. Dad said "Pick one from these" and I had no choice buy to choose a TVS 50 XL. My Shogun dreams shattered.
I never liked it but that was the only means of personal transportation available to me. The other options were Town bus, or the BSA SLR bicycle.
Soon the TVS 50 XL grew in me. The reliability was top notch, and I had a great time playing with the carburettor settings to extract the maximum mileage. That moped was ROCK SOLID! It was also a tuner's baby. With proper tuning it can go upto 60-70 effortlessly in a straight line. If not, you can tune it to extract the maximum mileage.
Erode is an important hub for TVS mopeds. Many a times, a team from TVS will be visiting Erode and surroundings to understand how ppl use it as cargo movers. Most of TVS 50 XL SUPER's design was based on the input from many small business owners in and around Erode as well as other parts of TN.
LUNA MAGNUM:
I also owned a luna magnum during my school days. It was an awesome moped by Kinetic, but marred by Clutch failures. The variomatic design was problemistic and it visited service center every month. Finally we sold it for Rs.2000. We regretted buying Luna Magnum.
Coincidentally, both my Luna Magnum and my TVS 50 XL was allotted the mix of same numbers by RTO, 4042 & 2044 respectively. |
