Good Point and I had my doubts, but couldn't prove. There are only 4 KTM SVCs in Hyderabad and where i got my 390 serviced is supposed to be best and honest. Hence laid my doubts to rest and called it "C'est la vie" and rode on !!!

A well balanced bike, indeed. I am a beginner biker, and I can feel the well balanced nature of the bike, especially when pushing around with the engine off while parking. I seemed to almost drop other bikes on the right side while parking at slightly inclined roads/parking, but never had that problem with the Duke. Another reason for the overall good balance of the bike seems to be the fat tyres, the short overall length and the light weight of the bike.

re: Duke of Ram - My Orange Flame, KTM Duke 390. EDIT : Sold!

KTM organised a Track day at Leonia Resort in Hyderabad, which has a decent Go-Kart Track.
Basically whole track was available for KTM Duke / RC 390 owners to practice our riding skills under supervision of Apex Racing Academy.
It was a jolly good day where 50 riders spend good time on the track burning rubber and testing their riding skills.

Thanks for your interest. Its been a while i posted from last update in April.
My Orange Flame is as hot it was since I bought. Lots of rides with Orange Riders. But I haven't had time for any extra mods, though a HID Light and K&N Air Filter were part of the agenda. May be next year.
Ride quality with Metzekers has been very good and stable. I need a new battery as the speedo console keeps throwing up errors and low battery sign keeps flashing, especially in the wintry cold mornings.

At first I was solo rider on my Orange Flame

But now,my son aka Junior hillram joins me on every ride, of course he is very well padded and saddled too !!!

Hye,

The Low Battery might not be a battery problem, but a stator problem. I had a similar issue on the Duke 200 with the low battery warning and the speedo showing 0 kmph intermittently while riding. The bike eventually died in traffic and had to be pushed to the showroom, which luckily was close by. Turned out the entire stator coil had to be replaced and the low battery was due to insufficient charging.

It happened a while ago, don't remember the exact figure because I got the bike serviced and a few other bits and bobs changed as well since it was at the SVC. I think it was around Rs. 1000, but not very sure. It seems to have been a problem on a fair number of Dukes.

re: Duke of Ram - My Orange Flame, KTM Duke 390. EDIT : Sold!

I called today KTM SVC in Banjara Hills to get a Stator coil changed for my Duke 390. I was told that mine being 2013 model has a different coil compared to later models, hence it would take 15 days to get one Hope the flame in my D390 doesnt die before i get a new stator coil..
Btw is it Stator coil or Starter coil ?

It's a Stator Coil.

I'm disturbed by the abnormal amount of D390 Stator Coil issues I am coming across of late. Very, very perplexing.

Im even more disturbed at the non-availability of the part, inspite of so many replacements for D390.

re: Duke of Ram - My Orange Flame, KTM Duke 390. EDIT : Sold!

As i complete 1 whole year of ownership with my Orange Flame, a mixed emotions of happiness and slight frustration, the latter attributing mainly with SVC issues.
Also i reached the 5 digit Kilometres, thus crossing 10000km mark.
As reported last,I was frustrated with Stator Coil not available for few months. Voila finally i got it relpaced, as it seemed to be the culprit. Battery was fine, but since it was already 2years old, i decided to get a new Battery (Exide).
The associated costs :
- Stator Coil : 1004.00
- Battery : 2050.00
Since then my Orange Flame has been doing more miles with smiles !!!!

The Nemesis : KTM Duke 390 Stator Coil

re: Duke of Ram - My Orange Flame, KTM Duke 390. EDIT : Sold!

I parted with my Orange Flame today with a lot of sadness, as my garage was overflowing and I also recently acquired a 2015 KTM Duke 200.
Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm who followed my thread.

Sir, sorry for that split. But what made you to choose a KTM again? choosing 200 over 390? any specific reason?

My duke 390 was a 2013 version with lot of issues ranging from Engine heating, Alternator issues and lastly no slipper clutch.
Now I choose a Dec 2015 Duke 200 with better engine temperature control, Slipper Clutch.
But I will miss those Metzeler tyres on my Orange Flame.
KTM is a terrifc brand in the end, and real value for money.
