OTR Chennai is Rs. 1,75,800/- I have asked my friend to make a booking in Velavan motors, as soon as they open bookings. They have a black bike on display but no test rides as of now. The RE showrooms in Besant Nagar and OMR are not sure about when the bike will be on display as of now.
The price does not include any of the accessories I think, definitely not the panniers

If the pricing is true as mentioned then it is killer pricing by RE and team for what they are offering. I am not sure but the Himalayan might cannibalize the Tbird350 as well as the Tbird500 sales as it can do what the Tbird's do and much more. As far as the CL and Standard series goes they will not be affected due to retro classic styling.

Total!

No room for complaints on the pricing front and I have a feeling after riding the bike, I would feel it is more than worth it.

Keeping the price in mind, I would go for it even if I was in two minds.
Waiting for a test ride to see if the product matches up to its price.

Did have a good look of the bike and I must admit that their welding bit on the chassis portion has improved tremendously. Are they in a position to be compared to other makes is still debatable.







The cockpit portion seems to be not well sorted out. That space can be used to host travel aids. Windscreen quality seems to be a bit of a let down. Tires seems to be too knobby for tarmac and might not be actually smooth. (PSI Can be dropped if they are too bumpy).

Engine and its note just do not match with any of their existing motorcycles which is understandable because of the deviation from the usage of Push Rods. Only time can answer if they are leak proof/perspiration proof. Silencer looks YUCK

Abundant usage of Plastics from RE Standards. Rear bumper is plastic, front fender is plastic, Side Covers are plastic. Windscreen quality could have been made better.

Pegs are ergonomically well designed. Very neutral position irrespective of whether you are sitting or standing. Seats are very comfortable.

Handlebar seemed to be Aluminum bars and not the old steel ones. Head lights seems like a retro design. Tail Lamps are LEDS. Easy to engage the main stand but it does not look very neat. Instrument cluster is well laid out and the buttons are definitely much better to operate when compared to Thunderbird that I have.

Will give my ride impressions when i get to ride it for some quality time.

Thats why you just need to pay 1,5x,xxx INR only.
For the price, quality is not that bad and if you have ridden it in bad roads you would love it.
Its very very flickable in bad roads, just stand on foot pegs and fly.

I was about to mention this when I was peeking at the close up photos from the press release. No wonder with Harris Performance UK roped in and Sid Lal moving to UK, has upped the quality levels.

I feel those are near perfect tyres for an ADV Tourer like the Himalayan. It can do both on and off road duties with aplomb. The mention of them being grippy and good quality by the auto journos is another feather in the cap.

I actually quite liked the silencer another example of pure function over form given the terrain this motorcycle is going to be subjected to.

Did anyone notice the ex-Mumbai price instead of ex-Delhi?

"Royal Enfield has finally launched the much awaited Himalayan adventurer tourer in India today, priced at 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The company also announced that the on-road price of the bike in Mumbai will be 1.78 lakh. However, the company confirmed that the bike will not be sold in Delhi and the reason given to us by it was that the Himalayan is not BS4 compliant. However, the bike will be available for display in the city but cannot be registered. The bike will be however, available in the NCR region and is priced at 1.79 lakh (on road). The Himalayan will be available in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida

The company also said that it is working on the BS4 compliant version and it should be ready by April 2017."

Agree to your statement.
Yes the stand and ride posture is very commendable. You can stand and ride for a few kms without having to fear for balance/control/lugging forward when you brake.

The statements were purely my observations and I have tried to be as neutral as possible so that the reader can come up with his own understanding .

Silencer yes i went a bit overboard with my observation.

Sure Navin, have requested for a test ride and will put up a brief write up.

If at all I get lucky for a weekend, then I will put in a detailed write up.
