Isn't mumbai covered under BS4? Puzzled over this reasoning for ex-mumbai pricing.

Agree with this, even current TB owners will be tempted to shift to Himalayan due to killer pricing.

How soon would that be? Thanks for sharing other details as none of media drive folks have reported these details.

Although I am not from Delhi but this is really weird man. As it is I want to wait till RE announces a twin cylinder Himalayan with EFi and ABS as an option. Looking at the current pricing I am looking at a ballpark of around 3.5 lakhs Ex-showroom for a twin cylinder Himalayan from RE.

Dont hold your breath for the twin. However, EFI will make its way into the Himalayan by the end of this year

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan, now launched!

Well it is quite strange that its not being launched in Delhi but in Mumbai. I am sure something is more than the BSIV issue which the company has announced. As per me I think they will bring in the FI model for this bike in Delhi and yes that can be close to 2lac rs price tag. But then again the question arises is that in NCR region the bike would be available in the same model which is launched elsewhere.

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan, now launched!

Himalayan has started creating lot of buzz in RE showrooms, quite a few had come to check out the Himalayan. And there were those surprised customers who were taken aback by a totally alien looking beast taking the center stage.

It might be a lot more quiet that other REs but does have a subdued RE thump. Seats are comfortable, parts felt solid. Windshield neatly designed will surely protect the rider. It is a little flexible but i think it will do its job. Lot of plastics, as someone said earlier, but decent quality.
Deliveries will start two months later, according to the showrooms guys.
Here are few quick snaps i got,

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan, now launched!

The crux of the matter in Delhi is best explained by this Business Standard article:

Quote:
The Delhi transport department is not permitting registration of new models of two-wheelers that comply with Bharat Stage (BS) III emission norms, affecting companies like Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Suzuki.

India follows the BS-III norms for two-wheelers and BS-III and IV for passenger vehicles. Beginning April 1, 2016, all new models of two-wheelers need to comply with BS-IV norms. Existing models that are launched till March 31 need to upgrade to BS-IV from April 1, 2017. BS-III two-wheelers are more polluting than BS-IV.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi had exempted two-wheeler during its experiment with vehicle use restrictions for fifteen days in January. But it has now stopped allowing new two-wheeler models from being registered without an official order.
Source

I went and met one of the dealers in Delhi and he confirmed this to be the reason. Since Delhi govt. and NGT both are involved, it is hard to predict a launch date as of now.

Re: The Royal Enfield Himalayan, now launched!

Dropped in a nearby showroom in the evening to check out the bike.
Initial impression just from look and feel- it's worth the price.

I liked how every part was designed specifically for a purpose.
The speedo console looked neat with the lighting.
That rear shock is huge and looks like it will walk the talk.
Thumbed it to listen to the exhaust note and it was not bad at all. Had a nice bass to it and was very audible and yes it had some of the old Enfield rhythm to it due to the long stroke.

Waiting for the test ride. Showroom staff attitude was through the roof like they built the bike and are displaying it. After firing the engine, and after few seconds, a chap comes and kills it. Hopefully their attitude doesn't affect the interest.

This one was CVS motors on ORR Kamanahalli.

Test rides will start tomorrow, but I wouldn't bother since I know how long the distance would be, by noticing their attitude today. Would wait for the excitement to die down and then go.

Seems it is priced at 1.75 on road.
According to Shubhabrata Marmar's tweets today...

Good pricing undoubtedly.

Eagerly waiting to get a test ride for this bike. Does anyone around pune knows about this bike being displayed in any pune showroom?

Patience is a virtue mate, looking at RE's current pace of launching new models I am willing to wait for them to launch their parallel twin as and when it happens(there's also news doing rounds about KTM offering an ADV Tourer in India). I feel the need for buying an ADV tourer but don't want to hurry. I can wait for another couple of years. Along with EFi, RE is also mulling on ABS for the Himalayan, I hope they offer an option to switch it off and on like in the Duke 390.

I test rode the Himalayan at the Fatimanagar Showroom of Royal Enfield - Platinum Auto. They had a small unveiling ceremony with the Blitzkrig (BRC) Club Members yesterday evening.
A well built Bike, fits like a glove, easy manuerability, and worth this price.

Go ahead, and test Ride it!
