Well no hopes on the quality part, being hoping for it to improve for over an decade now but nothing much has changed...

I think whatever enfield is up to they certainly need to improve quality and probably loose a bit of fat without compromising on stability.

re: Rumour: Royal Enfield trademarking the name "Himalayan" for its apparel range

Had been to the RE service center off bannerghatta rd last week and upon enquiring with a SA, he mentioned there is a possibility of the new bike coming in 3 engine variants, 450, 750 & 900 cc. Upon asking if 750 & above being parallel twins, he mentioned that it needs to be else it wouldn't make sense.

Marketing Launch around May with bookings much later.
Off course this is pure speculation for now but how much of it is actually true one is gotta wait n watch. Personally I love the idea of more powerful engines and the options it gives to buyers.

On a side note the Murgeshpalya service( behind Shoppers stop) would soon be shifted to BTM Lake road where they have picked up a 3 storied building. How soon is anybody's guess knowing things with RE.

Regards,
Argan

If I understand this correctly, you are looking for a lightweight high performance motorcycle that has more than five inches of suspension travel

Well; your wait is over sir

The light, explosive n very versatile duke 390 is on sale and has 5.9 inches of suspension travel, front n back

On a serious note, what we need for beat up roads is a supermoto type thing with around 10 inches of suspension travel. May seem like too much but to give u an example, the drz 400 has a suspension travel just around 10 inch mark. Does great on roads n off road as well

I'm quite familiar with your "implZMA". Nicely done sir!

I happened to ride a stock impulse on road n off for a brief period of time. A very capable machine. The only thing that bothered me a bit were the brakes and lack of power. But you obviously have no complaints in that area

I have a confession to make. I drool over the pics you posted on the impulse thread at least once a week. Lovely machine, very well done

This RE needs to embody that same spirit your bike has, and then some!!!

Thank you bud.

There is more in the works...eg. hi-lift cams, heavy duty valve springs, flywheel lightening, P200ns carb swap, complete frame and engine has been repainted and letting my creativity loose on the rear end of the bike.

here's a teaser...hope you like

The bike from page 2 was at the 2014 Rider Mania that was held in Goa. There is a picture of it on page 138 of Evo magazine (Jan 2015 edition). It clearly says 3 iterations of the Continental GT. It seems highly unlikely that it is the Himalayan.

Yes, Himalayan is supposed to be in the lines of "Impulse" with a new 385cc engine. but am kind of in love with the iteration version of GT

I seriously hope the finished product do not have any semblance to this rendering. I am hoping that it will be in line of Impulse, but yes - the 3rd GT iteration is quiet nice and a welcome change. I hope they do bring it out as a separate model, if not as Himalayan.

Haha, Classy rendering eh.

Doubt the designers at RE would stand for such a design

Encouraging news on visordown

link: http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-...ear/26302.html

It seems the 385 will actually be a 410cc OHV

And the Parallel twin could be a 750 but the most promising news is the proposed R&D setup in the UK. Hope this fixes the quality issues.

BTW that rendering made my neighbour's toddler scream in agony.

This one is by Hitchcock's (UK enfield specialists) and totally drool worthy. RE should do something on these lines but something tells me they won't.

This one looks great. And guess someone with enough moolah can actually get done here. A friend who rides for RE has done (not so cleanly) some stuff to make his bike look somewhat like this.

That mod can be easily done here as long as the necessary suspensions are available . The fuel tanks , the fenders , the exhaust and the tires are all available off shelf . Even the seat is available and if not , its plain form means it can be fabricated .

Lets assume 10k for front fork and rear shockers , 5k for tank ( well that is what I paid for my 10ltr tank without negotiation , I suppose one can get even cheaper like 3.5-4k ) , 3k for both fender , 2k for handle and minor tidbits here and there , 2-3k for chrome finishing and another 2k for seat and we are done with the mod within 25k . I will be surprised if it goes any higher and I speak from experience having extensively customized mine over a year back . 25k is a decent price imo for that form factor . Sorry forgot tires , add cost of tires too , another 5-7k I guess .
