Congrats NPV on getting a Honda!

I too am confused between the Aviator and Activa 125.

I am not a fan of the trailing link suspension that the conventional Activa gets. I need the telescopic fork one hence looking at the Aviator.

Aviator is your best bet then :thumbs up.

And I am sure you meant Telescopic Suspension for the front and not Telephone Fork?

I went through this dilemma, the waiting period of 30-90 days for Activa 125 made me take a look at the Aviator and I thought I may be making a compromise but boy was I wrong, I was just blown away. I'd say just go for it :thumbs up
Even in terms of Engine capacity, the difference is just about 15cc (125-110).

You can even get the Dlx model of the Aviator that comes with front Disc brake in addition to the Telescopic suspension, forget the telephonic Activa 125 :D

Happy to see an ownership review on aviator.
I am using the same for last five years. Mine is a 2009, 102cc model. It's a very comfortable scooter. Its ride quality, high and wide handle bars and amazing design made it my favorite. I am sure you will also be happy with scooter.

Here is a more relevant Pricing (Bangalore) + Feature/Specification comparo.
The one I posted in the Gearless Scooters thread (and linked in my earlier post in this thread) was one for all my initial contenders, including both 110 and 125cc scooters and did not have the Aviator, so here I have compared only Honda Activa 110, Honda Aviator, Yamaha Alpha and TVS Jupiter which are all more or less similar full-size scooters.



*All the prices are the revised 2015 prices after the Excise Duties were raised upwards, Except for the Yamaha Alpha which is old pricing, expect it to now be upwards by another Rs.2000-3000


The Aviator I bought was from 2014 December so it was priced lower and here are the detailed break ups for On Road pricing and Accessories:

PDI and documents (from my experience):
1. Vehicle inspection (Prior to Registration)

• a) Inspected the vehicle before it is registered. Checked for any damages, scratches, nicks, etc.
• b) Check Engine #, Chassis # on the vehicle & verify with sticker/tag.
• c) Check Date of manufacture (there was a tag with this information)
• d) Note down Engine #, Chassis # and Date of manufacture

2. Check tyres for any damages/wear
3. Check all electricals & battery
4. Check if Toolkit is present with all tools
5. Check if First Aid Kit is present
6. Invoice for vehicle - check break up for inclusions
7. Invoice for accessories - check break up for inclusions
8. Check Road tax challan - verify name of owner, amount paid and vehicle number
9. Check all accessories installed - verify against invoice
10. Check Number plates & Registration Number - verify against road tax challan
11. Insurance - verify information of owner, vehicle, premium amount
12. Roadside Assistance - opted for Honda Shield Roadside Assistance Program. Got the program enrollment certificate and the brochure for this (details of how to use the service, terms & conditions)
13. Owner/Service manual - check free service coupons, service schedule
14. Emission test certificate (PUC) - check in service manual, get sticker for PUC
15. Extended Warranty certificate/booklet
16. RC Book/Smart Card - this will be sent by postal mail. On receiving it, verify all information related to owner and vehicle
17. Check vehicle keys - 2 in number and both working
18. Warranty card for battery

*Did a complete inspection & verification of information like Engine #, Chassis #, etc during the Delivery process.

The first milestone is here - last evening the Aviator completed it's first century - 100Km on the odometer clap:



Ride quality has been superb so far, no cold start problems at all. Totally trouble free so far.

The horn feels too wimpy, reminds me of the first gen Scooty we had :eek:, will probably go for an after market one soon. Even the old Kinetic Honda had a much better horn!

Received the RC Smart card by Speed Post today, that was quick - took just 10 days.

1st Free Service Update:
Got the Aviator serviced today with Odometer at 471Km. No issues/complaints so it was a simple job card. Engine oil was replaced and bill was Rs.325 for Oil + consumables.

The service advisor added Rs.55 in the Job Card for "Waxing" but I declined it, didn't want them using some cheapo wax on the vehicle, more destructive than protective!

Having used the vehicle for a month now, following are some of the good to haves/improvements (things that I don't like):
1. Stock Outer Rear View Mirrors (ORVM's) are very small and field of view is extremely restricted so much so that sometimes a vehicle just behind on your left/right side isn't visible. These mirrors are too small and the blind spots are very high :Frustrati
2. Need a better Horn, stock one is wimpy.
3. Headlamp is 35W, this combined with the position/placement is inadequate for dimly lit streets which are common in Bangalore!

Will the Aviator support a 60/55W setup?

Congratulations NPV sir for your new Aviator. I have also booked one on 14th Feb (no not a valentine gift :D) and expecting delivery by 24th of this month. Will try to post pictures once it comes. Costed me 58991/- without accessories on road Kalyan LBT passing.
