Project Board Track Racer

This might seem pointless and crazy but I've always been fascinated by board track racers. Not the custom ones that people are making now-a-days but the original raw ones. They seemed to creep up everytime I watched a biography of Steve McQueen or in an episode of Overhaulin' lying at the corner.

So I decided to build myself one. On the outlook it isn't difficult. I'll post a few pictures before I continue.

So I got a Hero cycle lying at my friend's factory and started the work. The engine is a chinese 80cc make. Will have to work on the frame and the forks along with a clutch system for the engine start up.

Work so far:

Need to get custom springer forks made and have started with a basic 3D model design. Let's see how it turns out. Meanwhile playing around with the final colour scheme. Maroon or black. Black for reference:

Re: Project Board Track Racer

1. From where can one purchase a similar engine ?

2. You may come across springer forks online (normally sold for royal enfields ) but stay away from them as they are made of cast iron and the quality is abysmal .

All the best with your adventurous and quite unique project , colour suggestion from my end will be yellow with red lettering/pinstripes to complement the base . Between maroon and black , maroon gets my vote.

ps : is the 2nd image 3d modelled by you ? nicely done sir .

I bought the engine off ebay... Long time back. They've become insanely costly now.

I wont be able to use those springers anyways because they're made around a motorcycle and a cycle is much smaller. So will model and manufacture one of my own.

Thanks for the suggestions on the colour! Appreciate it.

The last picture isnt modelled by me, its just a picture off google.
