Re: Hero Splendor Pro Classic - 7.7 PS Cafe Racer launched at Rs. 53,900

I would have been convinced this was a prank if the source had not been Team-BHP.

There is a proverb in telugu that roughly translates to " A fox trying to imitate a tiger by giving itself stripes ".

Well that didn't come out right. Here is the telugu version " Puli ni choosi nakka vatalu pettu kunnattu.. "

The Splendor 'Cafe Racer' looks and sounds wrong on so many counts. The old splendor had character, soul, purpose. It was a very frugal endurance machine. I still have one which works extremely well after almost 15 years. No engine trouble at all.. It commanded respect. My office was in the posh UB city mall and many a times I took the splendor to work. In other words it held its own..

The splendor 'cafe racer' concept is a hare brained, juvenile attempt which has as much meaning and soul as the so called rap and hip-hop from Yo-Yo Honey Singh. Remember 'Char bottle Vodka..' anyone ?

To my surprise, the styling was really good. I saw this in flesh today, it looked good. I think there will be lot of takers for this for sure.

A slow and expensive single seater which is not much fun either. Interesting.

With that out of the way, I feel the least Hero could have done is adding disc brakes and a change to that 4 speed gearbox on this Pro Classic. The gearbox is one of worst I have experienced on 2 wheels.

Re: Hero Splendor Pro Classic - 7.7 PS Cafe Racer launched at Rs. 53,900

i understands its underpowered and a lot of things might be wrong with all the practical/technical aspects of a 100cc cafe racer,
but i am thinking of this as a stylish executive commuter, plus, its looking even better in black

and please dont yell at me when i mention that hero has minutely improved on power/torque(negligible), just a tad bit(to make sure that it will be the fastest splendor out there, i suppose)

power bump from 7.8 ps/7500 to 8.36 ps/8000
torque from 8.04 nm/4500 to 8.05nm/5000
(comparing with splendor nxg/ splendor + stands at 7.5 ps)

I didn't consider the 'cafe racer' to be such a horrible product,A bit weird yeah.

But that Passion Pro TR really does take the cake.I can't believe thats actually a product released by Hero.I thought it was a photoshop job at first.

Just look at that front end.Hilarious!

Oh look! Its got a headlamp guard too.I suppose it will come in handy during the extreme offroad trails that its gonna be tackling

I wonder would they release such products.

What were the designers at Hero smoking when they thought of releasing such a modification to a humble bike that is used for commuting and FE and NOT off-roading.

Can someone not understand what the bike is created for!

Seeing the guard below the headlamp, won't it hamper the headlight spread?

These bikes will be bought by the same people who are a part of the weird and whacky thread. Enough market and numbers I suppose.

This one screams "cheap imitation" all over.

But, then you never know Indian market. When Santro was launched in India around 1999, it was at best hideous. It went on to become a great success.

Leaving aside the opinion on the Passion Pro TR, I think the front mud-guard will be a good add-on to the Hero Impulse!! It will help in the rains and may actually look good too

I think this is a very sensible model. In places where the roads are real bad (probably 80% of India) long travel forks (assumption) will come in handy. The headlamp grill - apart from playing up its dirt bike pose - will be taken as a value add by folks who will see it as a headlamp guard against stones.
With the offroad capable tyres - you have the perfect bike for rural India!
The differentiation from regular models will be good to bump up the style quotient.

Agreed with you. But if only wishes were horses.

It comes with the exact same specifications as the normal Passion Pro. Same forks, same amount of fork travel, same wheelbase, same ground clearance, same tyres at the front and rear etc. Correct me if wrong.

The additions provided are only cosmetic and the cost is 5k -6k over the regular models for these cosmetic additions.

We have to realise that at the end of the day Hero only thinks about the 'Mass' not the 'Class'. Agreed they have Karizmas and few more classy models to be launched soon, their major chunk of Marketing budget is spent so that tonnes of people realise their dream of owning a cheaper lookalike of High-end bikes - Continental GT in this case. After all that is said and done, I am personally never going to forgive them for pulling Impulse out of the market to launch a joke like this. But well, this is Hero as we know it.

Finally checked out the specs differences on the heromotocorp site. Apart from the cosmetic differences, the front tyre is different on this. I am assuming that is what they mean by 'off-road capable tyre'.
