Re: KTM RC390 - Now Launched for Rs. 2.05 lakhs

A few posts earlier someone had mentioned that RC200 has taller gear ratio. Is their any chance that it will make to Duke200?

Re: KTM RC390 - Now Launched for Rs. 2.05 lakhs

Afters days of reading about her and watching her videos on the net, I finally made it to the KTM showroom, Noida today to say hello to my partner in future. I had already made up my mind to own the RC390 without requiring a test ride or even having seen the bike in real. I somehow know this bike is made for me.

Having said that, there are a few niggles I caught after the visit. One, the fuel tank of the RC is made of plastic material. A bike looks best when the painted parts are polished to a mirror effect which is not possible on the black plastic surface. The shine on the nearby parked duke made it look really better than the RC. Also, I feel the plastic surface will be more prone to getting scratched and dust accumulation making it and thus the bike look old very soon. Second, the rider's seat look much smaller (widthwise) as compared to duke's seat. I doubt the seat will be comfortable on long rides.

All in all, the bike looked good. But I wish it were also available in black colour. There was no test mule available but I assume ride should be somewhat similar to Duke 390.

I know of one that has been delivered to Sameer Venugopalan of Apex Riding Academy. He has even put up a track review of the bike along with a video on YouTube of a flying lap around the track.

I dont think any "regular" deliveries have commenced. I booked mine at the launch of the bike and hopefully will hear soon about delivery. Got to ride the bike a fair bit as well thanks to KTM Baner in Pune.

What was the waiting period quoted by KTM?
And how does the bike feel from your perspective?
I have a friend in Bangalore who booked hia bike around 2 weeks ago and he was promised a bike by October end.

Coming from a ninja 250 owner, i think the bike is absolutely smashing. Very nimble, very good suspension setup and may i add very very quick. Got a chance to put the bike through its paces at Bajaj's test track at Chakan yesterday, and that really confirmed the fact that this is the best track spec bike out of the box!

I think showrooms are giving a waiting period of 90 days but that should lessen considerably once the stock starts coming in.

Does anybody have any information regarding the RC 390 powerparts?
And the color schemes?
IMO , they maybe the same except for minor differences in design.
But the price may still be sky-high . :(

Decent start by powerdrift. I am waiting for a full review by Sajid(I believe that's the guys name). These guys have an excellent way of doing reviews.
On a different note, a good news to all who have booked the RC , as deliveries have commenced.
First ownership review is up on xBhp.

Re: KTM RC390 - Now Launched for Rs. 2.05 lakhs

I have been waiting impatiently for a test ride and the KTM IndiraNagar and Marathahalli showrooms do not yet offer test rides!

Waiting impatiently to take a ride and decide between the RC and Duke 390.

Re: KTM RC390 - Now Launched for Rs. 2.05 lakhs

BREAKING NEWS

ABS Option available in RC200 and Duke 200...!

When I flatly refused to believe the executive, he got it confirmed from another more experienced executive. According to them it costs roughly 25,000 extra.

This was at Bagga Link KTM at Connaught Place in New Delhi. Did not probe further as I had to hurry out. I still find it difficult to digest. Can anyone confirm this?

I rode the RC390 for about 15 kms, the seat is NOT comfy at all, and that's coming from a Duke 390 owner. I've done 1000 km a day trips on my Duke, but I had real trouble with my neck, palms, and ass on the RC.

Ride is similar to the Duke, but the bike definitely has a smoother throttle response. I wrote a detailed review here: http://riderzone.in/ktm-rc-390-review-test-ride/

From the pain that you're describing in a 15kms ride, I'm assuming you're not at all used to the lean-forward riding position. Although, I agree that the seat is not the most comfortable place to be in. The Ninja 300 or the R15 has more place for the rider to move around. But then, the KTM has a clear philosophy: to make a motorcycle that excels in one department and not make a please-all product.

True, both me not being used to sporty riding positions, and KTM's philosophy. This is the exact reason why I've been recommending everyone willy-nilly to not go for the RC for touring. It would be fantastic for the track, and workable for city, but long distance touring may leave you with indescribable pains in unmentionable areas, even if you are kinda used to the riding posture.
