Congrats VW2010.
First review from Chennai. I am very eager to lay my hands in my bike. Waiting is killing me like anything. Hopefully I get mine before next week.
So version 2 comes with Mud Guard and Shocks cap. Hope it comes with modified Radiator & Fan assembly and other unknown fixations if any.

re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Guys what's the scene here with the "new" and "old" 390? Is it just the radiator fan or is it tuning?

I think between first and new batch there is definitely a change in Radiator design. Stationary can feel the heat being thrown out in the front and when running i could hardly care for.

The mud flaps are new and thats pretty much i guess.

So here is a shocker for those who love their 390. What not to do?

Disclaimer - Conscious decision and its what i wanted. So please dont feel bad for the bike

Here you go the completely bare naked 390. I never liked the decals. 390 lovers..please dont hate me

Hey Vw2010 : can you please post/pm more images? Been thinking of this myself & going matte black.

Also thinking of stickering the wheels to reduce the dirty look.

But I would not have had the courage to do it the day I got the bike!

Heard from KTM ,Manager that the second lot will be coming by weekend. But VW2010, how come you got your bike as the earlier lot of 5 bikes had been delivered. Any lot of bikes came in between.

@Sridhu

Check the options. Please share your thoughts on decals as well. I like the black matte as you said.

Good to know! As long as mine isn't slower than the previous ones I'm okay with it. :-)

Holy moly matey! I dislike the decals too, infact I was thinking of doing much the same thing, now I'm not too sure (no offense man); if I do, then I need to figure out some other type of decals to make the bike look better!

Hope the same is true for Bangalore, it's of no help whatsoever that 30 bikes have been delivered when we need 500 more!

One thing i forgot to add about the heat issue. The heat is definitely higher compared to the bull 500 and i guess switching of the engine is a much better option is traffic.

Secondly there are no starting issues. One just has to depress the start button a tiny bit longer and voila the engine is live.

I still cannot believe that one can ride actually in a thrashy way like you used to in any of the bikes and still not cross the 6K rpm.

Just waiting to explore the life beyond 6K on a consistant basis.

I had the same thinking when i first saw the pictures of the 390. Remove the decals, paint the chassis black and do something to the wheels.

Too much Orange makes it look dirty.

Dude, i love both the looks white & black one, although the black ones looks a lot deadlier. If could simply add the duke logo in white on the black tank, it will just spice things up. I also want to get rid of the orange wheels but just have an orange accent on the rims to make look sharp. And finally a bike to this all on... C'mon KTM !

I am going to the decal or what we call sticker shop here. Here is the bike with more reduction in weight.

I love the plain decal-less, tyre-hugger-less look. Just to add, the white paint on the springs will chip off with all the muck from the rear wheel. I plan to get white paint from Bajaj (quite cheap) so I can touch it up whenever I notice paint peeling off.

I agree! Now if there was a tail tidy kit to reduce that rear overhang, it would look even better at least to me! That was always a sore point for me on the looks front of the Duke 200 as well!

Are there any official Bike reviews . Sriram Review is the current official one.

Whats the use of the tyre-hugger??? I hated the looks and having removed it the bike looks gapingly awesome and will definitely be the centre of attraction as people now try to figure what bike is mine with no decals and no hugger.
