A noob question, will a change of manufacturer do any good to this evaporation of coolant.

There are coolant available from Shell and Weurth. Anyone using it here, please share your views. Engine ice has mixed reviews and I think it is expensive proposition to try it out. So looking at around the same price as the stock Motul Inugel.

I use Glysantin G48 diluted with water for my D200. Haven't filled more than 100ml in the last 16000 kms.

Has anyone upgraded their older Duke 390 with the 2015 changes?

http://www.indiancarsbikes.in/motorc...lained-114607/

The above link describes the 20 differences between the 2013/14 Duke 390 and the 2015 Duke 390.

I'm interested in the below list:

I've clocked ~ 27000 kms on my Duke 390 (2017) that's nearly one year old.The first thing that I'd done after getting the bike was switching to Glysantin G30 (http://www.glysantin.de/en/products/g30.html) and during the refill process I made sure that the system was bled properly. Since then the coolant level has not changed by even one mm.

So maybe flushing the coolant and bleeding the system properly during refill might help in solving the coolant disappearance issue.

P.S. Post the coolant change majority of my riding has been on the highways (high RPMs) OR on the congested Pune roads in bumper to bumper traffic.

Good to know that G30 solved your issue!

Can you please elaborate your case? How many kms did the bike run before the coolant disappeared? How much time have you tested G30? Does the temperature gauge climb slowly now? Does the fan start late and stays ON for a short time?

Also, G30 is not similar to the stock Motul green coolant which is based on the Inorganic Additive Technology, it seems to be meant for cars (maybe diesels only), is it okay for the Duke? I thought the radiator internals and pumps can handle only one type of coolant.

What do you think?

Guys, quick question. I understand that the old duke had a mid life upgrade. Can anyone let me know how to identified the 2nd gen from the 1st gen. I understand that the 2nd gen had better heat management. Also what month / year was the transition timing from 1st gen to 2nd gen?

The bike had barely done a 1000 kms when I switched over to G30. There's no issue as such with the factory filled Motul and there's no loss of coolant either. It is just that I had a very good experience with Glysantin on my bikes (ER-6n,Z800) and my car (TATA SAFARI 2.2 Dicor) as well and hence I went in for G30.

As I said earlier it's been ~ 26000 kms and ~ 11 months since I switched to G30. The temp never crosses 4 bars and the fan comes on intermittently for short durations.

G30 is sillicate free and that's what I was looking for ! Till date no issues as such with any of my vehicles after clocking substantial kms (water pump seals going kaput etc...)

It's March 2015 the UG2 (Widely known as slipper clutch model) was launched and made available.

Overall there are many changes made during that upgrade. If you see a black mud protection cover on the rear single shock absorb, you got it.

Personally I would suggest to pick UG2 if somebody is out for a pre-worshipped beast hunt.

This model was so impressive for me that I myself added a 2016 D390 and now it sits besides my Bonnie :D

You read well between the lines. I am looking for a specimen but am finding the old ones only. What budget should I keep for a UG2 model?

Anything between 1.2 to 1.3 for a vehicle did below 6K should be fine.

Wow 27000 kms in less than a year is incredible, could you please share the experiences and what all parts have you had to replace over this distance? I dont think i know of anyone who has done this kind of mileage on a 2017 duke so quite interested to know. :thumbs up

The experience has been amazing to say the least. This is THE bike for Indian road conditions in my opinion. Maintenance wise all I had to change was the tyres (the factory fitted ones lasted for ~ 16000 kms) and the chain/sprocket kit (got it changed around 17000 kms mark before leaving for a long ride).

Here's a picture of the winter ride that I'd done to Kashmir in the month of December'17 :D

I took delivery of my Duke 390 in February and headed off to the Bullet Baba Temple in Pali, Rajasthan for a 1000 kilometre solo ride in March. The bike performed flawlessly at speeds averaging around 100 km/hr on long durations. However, coming from the Bullet I found the seat to be too hard. Does anybody have any experience with Gel Seats for a Duke 390?

[*]Has anyone tried the 15 minute ECU reset? If yes, was there any difference?

Yes I tried that day before after washing the bike. The bike was under cover since 3 days and I took that opportunity to check.

Today I rode it to work and there was a marked difference which I could feel. The idling was smoother and hovering around the 1.4/1.5k mark which was otherwise hundred more. Mine is a 2013 model with 41+k on the odo. The later ones were bumped up to 1.6/1.9k if I remember right.

I will not jump to conclusions now. I will observe over the next week and reply here.

Thank you for the reply :)
Had given up hope.

I did the 15 minute Idle too and found the bike to behave a tad bit better.

I've now ordered for the NGK iridium spark plug to see what it can do to improve performance and fuel efficiency.

Anyways good to know a fellow member who has the same model. Mine too is a 2013 Duke 390 run 7500kms only.

Do share your experiences please. Any significant mods, ups and downs, upgrades ,etc.

Found something strange. I've heard the manual recommends tire pressure at 29/29 (solo) and 29/32 (+ pillion). Just noticed this on the chain guard.
